Tantabiddi navigation aids in place
Work to upgrade navigation aids at Tantabiddi (Ningaloo Reef)
Skippers approaching and departing Tantabiddi boat ramp day and night will benefit from a major upgrade of navigation aids.
The Department of Transport (DoT) has completed a project to install five new lit navigational buoys, including three port hand spar buoys and two starboard hand spar
buoys at Tantabiddi.
DoT Acting Marine Operations Director Ray Buchholz said the upgraded markers would better define and light the existing navigation channel for skippers using the
Tantabiddi boat ramp to access Tantabiddi Passage through the Ningaloo Reef.
"The project will significantly enhance recreational and commercial boating safety in this remote northern location," Mr Buchholz said.
The $85,000 project had been implemented as part of the DoT's 2011/12 Navigation Aid Capital Works Plan and had received funding from the Recreational Boating
Facilities Scheme.

Yeah I had a few close calls
Yeah I had a few close calls with navigation markers with failed lights one moonless night last April.
Be good to get them all sorted!
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
