Is there a more moving tribute

to commemorate an occasion than the "Last Post" - I doubt it very much. Certainly makes my hairs stand up being the proud Aussie that I am. How can we not be proud thinking about the Aussie and NZ diggers on this day. What a very special day it is.

If there is Paully
I have yet to hear it. My grandfather and father served in and survived WW1 and WW2 respectively. Both gone now but I miss the Anzac Day phone call from my Dad in NZ.

They went with songs to the
They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them...

listen to the dawn service on
listen to the dawn service on Rotto on Monday morning and not a eye without a tear around us as the last post was played.
The dawn piper was so eerieeee as he played up and down the beach before sunrise..
I’m glad my son was able to experience such an occasion, it made him think twice about war and the games they trivialize on the Playstations.
The Last Post has a deep meaning for anyone who has served, it is your final farewell at the end of a day, at the end of a campaign and at the end of a life….

Totally agree
I always get goosebumps and yes a tear in my eye for my late father died in '87 (served in the submarines from Freo during the second world war in the Dutch Navy taking the commondos to Papua New Guinea, think they are now called the SAS) and all who lost their lives to keep us safe in Australia, we also mustn't forget the merchant navy getting supplies to countries as well, a lot died bringing supplies to England, Europe and from America to serve and feed all our troops.
