Through Hull Transducer Install

Hey Team, next job on the list is a new transducer install - I checked the search function for historic posts and there's nothing really recent, do people have any recommendations for someone to do a through hull install again north of the river please.

I've got the location sussed as there's a nice central keel/planing beam (so zero degrees) and I left a string to pull through the tranny cable after I installed the big TM265 on the back.

I've uploaded a few images of a replica fit out (im not presently looking at replacing the two 20deg offsets, but the central through hull behind the pump). The back of the boat shows a central flat keel which is ideal for the zero deg. through hull.

Yep glass boat, but there's no need just to have an in hull wet box when there's a clean line through. I'll see if I can dig out an image of a carbon copy install

 Well that's a very good

Well that's a very good question and i guess it's only down to the fear of the unknown, if I get the hole marginally off straight and then applying the right lacquer, adhesive, prep etc before mounting.

Transducer install

I installed a through hull with a fairing block on my boat myself, with a bit of measuring and following instructions it's not a hard process. If you are confident of placement diy it's not as daunting as it might seem.

through hull install

Pictures tell a thousand words.
IN HULL,if you want to be sure on where to place it get a lump of plasticine that the kids play with and flatten that out with a rolling pin(Thin piece) and place it where you think you want it and test that area first. You can then move it around before it goes in perm.(even in a wet box)
Bubble in the fiberglass (from manufacturer) will show up on the screen as a fish.
Through hull above is irrelevant.
DIY,you won't learn if you dont try,I have a in hull on mine P79.

Ben Punch of fibrelite boats did my furuno DFF3 transducer install and did a perfect job. He is one of the best and highly experienced he is in O Conner 45-47 Stockdale rd. 93141111 or 0410455585. Give him a buzz and get a quote. Cheers Paul.

On a side note, if that

On a side note, if that install pictured is on a mates boat, suggest they replace the hose clamp on their bilge pump

Ha ha yeah I saw the same

Ha ha yeah I saw the same thing!!

believe it or not I had my deckwash pump replaced by a reputable NOR workshop and they left the two jubilee clamps undone. When water was pumped to the live well all was fine due to the interference fit of hose on nozzle but when the deck wash was switched over it was pumping water into the hull at a frightening rate. I'm pretty precious of all my fittings and fixtures now!!

 As you would be.

Pretty sure Beau lost a Jet Ski due to a dodgy hose fitting.
