throwing livies off the rocks on incoming tide

Hey guys, I'm just wondering how you guys throw livies off the rocks on an incoming tide.

I use a float with a mullet under it with a trace of a meter or so, but the mullet comes always back and smashes on the rocks.. Mullet doesn't like it that much and the livie dies quick..

Whats the best way? I would like to have the bait on the surface for macks and queenies. But maybe the best way is to put a sinker on it and chuck it out and let it swim on the ground?

Sinker mate; depends on the water, either a sliding sinker or sliding livie (sliding livie between 2 swivels - mt apart) looks like the genuine free willy and deadly.
