Today and upcoming

Well after 5 years of just an annual "see if it still works" run, the tinny finally got into some salt water when wife, kids and I went for a fish out of woodmans point.

Firstly we headed south to the cliffs for a drift for a squid, and first cast, while trying to settle the brown dog, we got a small squid. That was where the fishing success ended, but we drifted around for another hour, trawled along the cliffs then headed to the actual woodmans point for another drift without luck.

Overall a very enjoyable morning on the water. The motor didn't miss a beat which was really pleasing.

Next up is a week in Yallingup after a week at work. Have everything I need for salmon, apart from ability, then Exmouth for a week in July (was up there for a week in 2005, spent $300 at the local blue water and didn't catch a thing hence my comment about ability).

I will report in from down south if anything interesting happens, fishing wise :-p

Hi Swompa, how about uploading the photo's to this post. I clicked on the link but it said that the page is down. I am not a Facebooker so maybe that is why I couldn't get on.

Yeah i have had the Tinny for

Mon, 2013-04-29 13:54

Yeah i have had the Tinny for 8 years now (Paid $1300 for the hull, then built the trailer and got a 2nd hand donk). It copped a flogging for the first few years culminating in a trip to Exmouth in 2007 or so. I blew the dust off it to take it to Lancelin of Easter 2012 but it didn’t get wet.

Planning to take it down and try to get some salmon next week around Eagle Bay, so I wanted to give it a run first of all, close to home.

Funny thing is that it had been for sale for the past 2 years without any interest. Really isn’t ideal for what I want out of a boat in the future ( I think I need two, 1 car topper for camping, and a bigger boat for overnighters ect) but at this point, where I don’t want to spend money, its great. I guess I will have to tell the wife that we will need to have three boats, Small, medium and large.

love the dogs

Mon, 2013-04-29 14:44

love watching the dogs come in here in Leeman either from the crayboats or amatuers, no sooner the boat hits the jetty or beach, they run off with crossed legs, wonder why?.  Juat about see the sigh of relieve when they do their business hahahaha makes me laugh all the time, even though I've seen it so often now but still enjoyable.  Sometimes think Leeman should be called Jack Russell town with all the JR's in town and on crayboats hahahaha.

Sounds like you had a very enjoyable day with wife and 4legged babies.

 Got down to Yallingup this

Sun, 2013-05-05 18:57

Got down to Yallingup this afternoon and after unpacking, headed to Cape Clairault for a fish.

first cast, had my finger a little to tight around the braid and did a monster cast and ended up with a yellow burn in my finger.

second cast, weed,

third cast, got stuck on a bit of weed and lost my lure...

spat the dummy after that, because the dog (3yp kelpie) had been sitting in the car all day and was going ape shit.

Tomorrows plan is to head down to Hamlin bay and trawl around some lures to see what happens.

Hamlin bay.

 G'day swompa.

How did you go down the bay. Any luck with a salmon? What time were you out on the water?  I think I seen ya out there. I was beach fishing with the family about half way along the main beach. . And could see a tinny out there. And wished I had my boat down here.

Seen this post and thought it might be you.

Good day on the water it looked like.

Cheers winnie.

3 hours out, two hours of

Mon, 2013-05-06 15:17

3 hours out, two hours of trawling and wife = 3 herring, me = another lost lure due to a snag.

was real nice down there with 8 or so knots of south westerly, though launching and retrieval made for nervous times.

eve the pros up the hill on lookout looked bored.
