Trailer stolen

Hi crew, sorry to put up a post like this but i'm devo'd.

Got home from work about 8pm to find my trailer missing. Checked with my friend's and neibours and no one borrow'd it.

I spent 2 months last year rebuilding it for a trip to steep point. Very solid 4x4 box trailer with jerry can holders and a large esky on the front.

I'll include a couple of pic's but i just put a canope on top that are not in the pic.

Just to make it worse i had all my camping gear inside as well.

If anyone gets offered a cheap trailer that looks like this one, please PM me so i can kick there heads in( oops i mean call the police)

I have reported it stolen and have many photo's of it being built.

It has been painted grey.

Bad luck mate, hope you get lucky with the recovery. Amazes me how brazen some people are.

Straight out the carport

Wed, 2011-03-30 21:57

They hitched it up straight out the carport, Luck i hadn't put the camper top on it yet.

That would have been another $2500 down the drain.

Thank's for the reply's. Would realy like to get it back or i'll have to make another one.

Edit. In bayswater bro..

an idea for ya

Wed, 2011-03-30 22:56

Hey grantartic1, came across this one in a car mag a few years ago and i reckon is a sh!thot idea.

if you ever come home to find your trailer/car/boat has been knocked off. Ring up all the local taxi mobs and offer a 500 or 1000 buck reward for the cabbie who spots it, notifies the cops, and follows it until the boys in blue can nab the wankers.

Just an idea. And yes the guy i got the idea off got his car back.

cheers

Thats how my mother got her stolen Hiace van back in QLD, we called the taxi mob and at midnight a taxi driver spotted it parked behind a local shopping center where she had left it,,she came out another entrance ant the van had disapeared "stolen"

A trailer might be a bit harder to ID but good luck,,

just ring

Wed, 2011-03-30 23:47

Just ring the taxi mob... swan taxi is one of them 131330, speak to the operator, no harm in asking, ask her to broadcast it across to all cabs. you may even be able to email them a pic or two?

worth a shot in my opinion.

hope u get it back mate.

That's really not cool.

Thu, 2011-03-31 05:11

That's really not cool.  Especially when you put your own time and effort into it like that.  Hopefully you get it back with everything still intact.  Was it insured?  If not, you could try your home contents insurance (if you have it).  You should be able to claim up to a certain amount if it was parked in your driveway/carport.  They classify it as "unsecured items" or something like that.  I claimed a $600 pram/stroller that was stolen from the front of our house a few years back.  Even if the trailer isn't covered, you might be able to claim the esky, jerry cans and camping gear???

Good luck with it mate.  I'm gutted just reading youe post.

Man this sucks

Thu, 2011-03-31 06:43

I had a dirt bike stolen from redcliffe a few years ago.  Have to ask the question mate, did you have a trailer hitch lock? Or some other way of bolting it down?  I lock up absolutely everything these days, bikes locked up with lock, locked up inside shed with fishing/camping gear, Boat trailer hitch locked and behind a locked gate, and locked onto the car hitch when at the ramp.

The feeling of theft, especially something you made with your own hands sucks.  If I ever get a dirt bike again, dirty great plate of steel under the pavers to distribute the load with a huge load rated ring bolt on top and some 16mm case hardened chain and probably disc locks for good measure, might use this for when I have a nice boat also.

we had a a wall that fell

Thu, 2011-03-31 07:48

we had a a wall that fell over, so we built up a new one, when the cement was getting pured we put about 2m length of stainless steel chain in to it, then it was brought through the surface by a PVC tube, has about another 2m or 3m left, enough to lock the boat and trailer, nothing will get stolen without a noise...

Usualy kept at factory

Thu, 2011-03-31 10:26

Thanks for the coments guy's. Unfortuantly not insured . I usualy keep it inside my factory but was moving some gear as i just moved into the house.

It was only there for a couple of day's, I did think about locking it but with hindsite i should have just brought it back to the factory. I keep my boat hear as well cause ive had sounder and raidio tacken before.

Don't know what they intend to do with it as it's a very distinct trailer. Even mod's and paint wouldn't change certain details on it.

Sadly if they re sell it some poor guy will end up with stolen property and I sure as hell will be taking it back if i spot it somewere.

Presuming it is registered - what is the plate number on it?

Although I'm sure that's the first thing the a/holes would remove...
