tranny protection

hii all well my new 1 kw tm270w arrived today
i was wondering does anyone have a protection cover on the tranny to protect from sun damage ?
i just want this to last and as the boat is out of the water more often than in im worried that such a large peaice of black plastic sitting in the sun may get damaged was thinking of getting my trimmer to make a sock up for it out of boat cover material will this cause condensation inside the tranny ?

dunno how in the open it is on your boat but I fitted mine up last week and took it to exxy, my old 258 still looked brand new and it sits out all the time. You will love the tranny, but you will need to run higher gain than you are used to I found. I assume the wider beam = less return at the same gain than the 258. Once I figured this it was great for finding fish and ground.

is it possible to install a 1kw transducer on a boat that already has a smaller one?
i have navman electronics on my boat, a fishfinder 5510 if my memory serves me correctly, it has a 8-10inch screen anyway.
if it is possible, where is the best place to buy from and what brand or setup should i be looking for..??
