Transducer for Lowrance HDS-10 ???

Hi,

Can someone advise which hull mounted (transom) transducer I can get for the Lowrance HDS-10 which is 600w.

They only seem to come with a 200w or you have to go and get the TM260 1kw (or is there one specifically for the lowrance?).

The Furuno has a 600kw, so can I get one for the HDS-10? I don't fish deeper than 150m but usually fish in 30-60m so don't see the need for the 1kw.

Cheers

I think you're mixing up W

I think you're mixing up W and Hz.

The lowrance comes with a 600w tranny that is either 200/50kHz or 200/83kHz.

Airmar makes lots of different transdcuers, to sut many brands of gear. The TM260 is just one. As long as you get the right wiring, it will work on lowrance or Furuno or others.

The cheap 50/200kHz

Is supposedly only a 200w transducer, something like that anyway. It isn't 600w, again, this is what I was told by the dealer.

Which dealer, pretty sure thats just bullcrap. If its true, its a bit sad anyhow, are they just trying to make their gear look cheap because who eants to use a 200w tranny?

when you brought the 10 it

Thu, 2011-11-17 18:38

when you brought the 10 it should of come with a 600w (plastic bracket) the smaller one with the metal bracket is the 250w a was told.

if you can get to the inside of your hull fit a p79 wetbox, works great and easy to fit.

You can use a through-hull, but not a shoot-through. Something like the P319.

 Jamie is on the money!!

You neeed a HST DFSBL 50/200kw tranny for your HDS, if you want to fish deeper go a 1KW or more.

edit; saying that mate i have a m260 1kw wetbox as well and i am yet to go over 50mtrs (weather/timing is all out) and i belive it has made a differance to detail, not huge and maybe not worth it, but when i get deeper it will be i think?

Not sure of prices, but I'd go the HST DFSBL over the P66. No need for the P66's paddle wheel for s start. I've got the HST DFSBL for my SIMRAD NSS8, but yet to try it out deeeeep.

Preferred the mount design of the P58 on my old Lowrance sounder though, which looks very similar to the P66

Worth a look

Here is a good article on the differences between the two transducers. The P66 looks to be the winner.

That comparison is for the cheaper HST WSBL which is an 83/200 and has different mount.
The HST WSBL is 50/200 and far superior transducer to the WSBL, but also more expensive.

The review for the P66 looks pretty good, but don't be mislead by the comparison with the HST WSBL

Sat, 2011-11-19 07:57

yes mate i agree

the one in your article with the metal bracet is only the 250w i was told, usaly sold with the hds 5's, so i think in that article they are comparing a 250w with a 600w.

the below pic is mine

this is the one that come with my hds10 and it is a 600w and is nearly double the size of the other one.

but because of the shape of my hull i lost reading over 8knts so i installed the p79.

it was only 2 weeks ago i gave this tranny away to a freind for free....always the way hey!!
