Brg the butt is glued on,you will need a slender knife blade to run around the inside of the rubber cap,then peel off fairly easy.

Use a Drexel or a fine hacksaw blade to cut ,as they say measure twice and cut once.

 If your a bit reluctant to trim it have a look at a penn talon which is a removable reel seat that will clamp on most rods including sensor surf so you can put your reel where you like.

The only place I can find that sells them is eBay. I have one and use it a fair bit it's a great little piece of kit
