That's a bucket list fish, only ever seen a couple and they were in Broome hanging around a small log in the middle of nowhere in the ocean - tried everything to tempt them but no luck.
Anything is possible but I would put that one down to very unlikely. Even further north they are a tricky target species and most active in summer months.
We target them in Broome and it's mainly wet season. Never heard of them in Exmouth but I recon the other side of the gulf there may be a few. Sight casting little floating minnows is good fun and I have a couple of Big johns jigs that are going to be tried out.
I've flyfishers with a bunch of like minded blokes for the last dozen year and we have compiled a list of over 200 species since 2012 and now one has caught a TT.
And we're been to every corner of the gulf and lagoon.
Do get them in the gulf, mostly on random stuff floating. Did used to see captures coming off the pearl fad out the front of the gulf course (once in a blue moon)

Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Wapet Creek
got one out in front of Wapet Creek a few years back, pulled like a freight train for its size, then back over the side with it to live another day
