Trouble shooting with suzuki starting problems
Submitted by fincher on Fri, 2016-06-17 19:32
Have got a 07 fs 115 Suzuki runs great and all but every now again were haven problems starting it like 1 in like 15-20 starts it won't start so we play around with putting it into gear then back to neutral and most times it works but on the longer end up off Cervantes we spent a good 10 mins trying different things and finally got started. Dad and I both have this problems and isn't just one off us any idea off way it could be were thinking maybe a loose wire or somethen

When you say it won't start
When you say it won't start ....does the motor turn over with the starter or do you just get nothing at all when you turn the key ?
My fishing spots are so secret........... even the fish don't know where they are !!

Can you hold the throttle
Can you hold the throttle ever so slightly off the neutral position. Just Hold the button in and just move the handle so it doesnt go in gear. Try forward and reverse and try and start it and see if its just out a bit. I dont know what sort of switch they have in suzi controllers but a bit of wear over the years can see the switch not engage every time especially if there is plastic in there. Could be a dodgy connector also. A lot of shifters have a join near the controller or in the controller with bullet connectors or a plug. A bit of green in a bullet connector or plug can cause all sorts of problems.

In my experience Suzuki's
In my experience Suzuki's have this problem quite often, it could be cable adjustment, neutral start switch, ignition switch or a combination of all these, not to mention the wiring. That's where I would start and go from there, the Suzuki software records faults like this so send me an email if you want me to have a look at if,
good luck

Yep, check neutral switch on
Yep, check neutral switch on motor and in control box but my money would be on the motor
I had to get a new one for mine 04 115 today (the one on the motor)
seems to be a fairly common one the earlier Suzukis
its a pretty flimsy plastic switch

x2 on the engine end neautral
x2 on the engine end neautral switch, it may just be loose, on mine the threaded part had snapped off which was letting it float around in there, eventually it came right away and would not start at all.
