Trout pattern lures

Small lures in trout colours worked best for me in Victoria. Trout are highly cannabilistic so it's makes sense too. CD-40 I think was my goto in rapala but the little rmg's worked too

+1 for a lure that looks like a trout or Redfin.

In practice terms, trout are bottom feeders, mid water feeders and surface feeders. They eat everything, including small trout. They will eat a small yellow beed, or corn, or worms, of smaller lures, or coloured strands on a hook with a huge rotating flasher rotating around the hook.

There is a pattern eh. Purchase / use lures with regard to the fishing location. Is it shaggy, overgrown, vast and open. Each fishing environment will have its own challenges for presenting a lure where the trout lay up.

Good luck, post any capatures.

 Rapala CD3 & CD5 are

Rapala CD3 & CD5 are timeless trout classics. Shallow diving Atomic Shad 40 in fire tail colour has produced plenty of Lefroy Brook trout for me. SX40, rapala shad & ultra light minnow are good on the trout to. Then there's the good old celta style spinning blade lures that have probably accounted for more trout & reddies than any other lure.

Ecogear SX40F in colour 348

Mon, 2014-03-17 23:48

Ecogear SX40F in colour 348 is my number 1 trout hard body on the Collie, Blackwood, Donelly and Warren Rivers.
The orange and black stripe SX40F is my one for Redfin.

But the majority of Trout I catch are on Celta spinners. Get 2 for usually around $10. The medium sized ones with the red stripes work best for me. Havent used SPs for trout. Had a little success with Redfin on small red grubs.
