Tuna and a hook in the thumb (warning graphic)

Went out yesterday with plans of heading to the fads with some mates in another boat once the wind died down. Got just past the Three mile and decided to put a lure down for a little troll, two mins in the water and rod goes off, get the fish boat side for a bit of a tussle then gaff goes in, spike and cut the fish let it calm down for a little while, remove first set of trebles no drama second set and he has one last kick in him bingo, first set through the thumb. F&%^!

Clipped the top off it pulled it out all good. lesson learned, let them bleed for a while longer and get a long hook out gun.

Fish went 6.5kg, no monster but still tasted good!

Pec fins look too long for a SBT I reckon Yewie. I'm happy to be corrected though.

Not doubting your thoughts Dale but have caught my fair share of long tails, I haven't actually seen a SBT in the flesh but either way nice fish and I bet it was delicious!

After talking to a fair few

After talking to a fair few people pretty sure it was a SBT. The longtail has a more of a distinctive underbite and longer tail obviously but it's hard to tell from this photo.

 Lucky it went right through,

Lucky it went right through, I crush the barbs on trebles now after having to have one removed at the nursing post at Cervantes along time ago. Last trip to the barrage at Camballin it payed off when a mate buryed one of my trebles in his palm down to the shak whilst releasing a Barra would have been along trip back to Derby to get it out

Ouch !Like shortfuse, I crush

Wed, 2017-05-03 06:36

Ouch !

Like shortfuse, I crush the barbs on lure trebles these days.

A lot easier to get out of both yourself and the fish.

And it doesn't seem to cost you any fish.
