Two Rocks Ramps

Launched at Two Rocks for the first time in months. The cost has gone up to $7.00. Nothing to show for the increase in fees and when I got home spent an hour getting the black marks of the hull from the tyres they use as buffers on the jetty. There were very few trailers considering the weather, now I know why. I think it is now the most expensive launcing ramp in the northern suburbs. At least at other ramps there are wash down facilities and decent ramps and jetties.  If they are going to increase fees they need to upgrade the faciliteis available.

Also had a local get annoyed with me in taking time to leave the jetty whilst I waited for engine to warm up (about 2 minutes). He had just returned from checking pots. From launching to leaving jetty was about 10 minutes. Maybe he should complain to the yatch club instead

Unfortunately they can charge pretty much whatever they like, as it isn't a government ramp. It does suck, but i'll pay 7 bucks, even $10 as it gets me out to some great ground, and i dont normally use facilities at ramps.

Atleast you have some guy sitting there watching the carpark for most the day!(On weekends)

Good crime prevention! and its a small ramp so dont hog it push off and drift out, warming it up theres plenty of room off the rampWink

it's better than East Freo's $12 with no facilities either, except for a free saltwater rear tyre wash when the ferry or bigger boats cruise past.

Yacht club

Before I left Two Rocks all the ramp fees went straight to the yacht club with sea rescue not getting a cent and I don't think it has changed in the mean time. The bloke collecting the fees gets a percentage of the take.

Had a big argument with a collecter years back when I refused to pay untill he could show me that they had third party insurance covering me if I had an accident on the ramp and hurt myself. Didn't pay for over 18 months and sadly the poor chap had a heart attack and passed away while out pulling his craypots with his son. New collector wasn't so easy so bought an annual pass that worked out about half price compaired to paying daily.

with a ramp like that in the location its in and the fishing that can be had out there $7 isnt realy much to complain about. just look at how much fuel you use in your boat and the car getting the boat down to the ramp, then take into account how much you spend on bait and ice for your trip out. for us we would probably spend up to around $120 on one trip so realy another $7 wouldnt hurt plus you wouldnt have to travel as far to get onto the decent fishing grounds so the $120 we would spend would then cut down to around $60 or $70 so we would then be in front. if you dont like it , dont use the ramp

While the cray season is on approx 50% of the users are pensioners and while $7 a day isn't a lot to pay for anyone who is working it is a big amount for them.
