Tying Braid Loop to Mono Leader

 G'day guys

I've been interested to find out what is THE strongest knot for this:

I've got 30lb braid for mainline with a bimini twist tied at the end.  I want to tie a 70lb mono leader to that.

The best knots i know of for doing this are - GT Knot, Slim Beauty, Yucatan Knot, and the Albright Knot

Another option is to have no bimini in my mainline and tie it straight to my leader with a Sebile Knot.

So, who knows which is the best option out of these?? or another knot i havn't mentioned??

Any info greatly appreciated

cheers

-red

FG or Sebile would def be the best of the lot. Modified improved albright if you want something strong and dont need to cast :)

FG easier and better casting than PR and more reliable IMO.

How easy and quick is it to do a FG on the boat?

I've never yet tried them because the GT has never let me down , although it does get caught up on guides/line roller.

Just loathed to swap when it's so simple.

Is there a good youtube vid for it yet?

This is the vid i used to learn to tie the FG, I use the pr generally and only have to use the Fg on rare occasions. The way johnf ties a Fg is different again and easier to tie but i have not seen any video of this method.

None of the good knots are easy to do on a boat first time I dont think, but you get the hang of them.

I exclusively use PRs, and they cast really well. One trick I've found though is not to make the length of the section where you serve the braid (with the bobbin) onto the leader too long. 2cm is ample to stop it slipping, and I've found an increase in wind knots if you go any longer.

Only once have I ever had that knot start to slip, and that was when the half hitches were not tight enough using Jerry Brown 100lb, which I've found is quite 'waxy' and requires much tighter hitches than other brands I've used. Even in that case all that slipped was the bottom couple of hitches, which I noticed after catching a fish, and replaced the leader.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

You can get a decent one for around $30, doesnt look as cool as the big $$$ ones, but ties the knot just as well!
