i think it will be the same format, but will be using v6 instead of v8  probably to get more car brands onboard.

it sucks tho, I havent been watching since they took it of free to air.

TT V6

Sat, 2017-10-07 14:03

All V8's next year with the Holden twin turbo V6 making a couple of wild card races, 2019 who knows, Holden factory team T8 probably run the TTV6. Supercars are trying to open it up to other manufacturers, right thing to do for the future I guess but yeah I'm V8 through and through, hold on to your aussie V8.

Nothing like the throaty roar

Sun, 2017-10-08 16:14

There is nothing like the throaty roar of a V8 pulling 5-7 k RPM in full flight.

I must confess the noise that comes from the small 4s pulling 7-8k RPM leaves me flat the heart beat stays the same. Not so with the 8s.

Yep, it's an absolute chorus coming from the back of mine plus the induction noise from the front, fairly addictive

I know it may feel like the earth is caving in on the rednecks of some of you folks :) BUT...............

You have to roll with the punches, look at the F1's, who would have thought a 1.8ltr engine could produce 1000hp!!

There will be some grizzle initially with the 6's but rest assured as long as the lap times stay the same ( they will probably get quicker ) then the die hards will eventually find the same passion in the new tech...

On a different note - Has anyone seen the movie/doco called Smokey Senna? If you are into motorsport in anyway shape or form it is a must watch!!

An incredible story of an incredible driver who had a lot of hurdles to jump in the way to becoming the champion that he was.

The reason i thought of that is its back when the very first onboard cameras were on the F1's and the roar coming from those Turbo'd engines back then was spine tingling!!

Anyway those that havent seen it make an effort and let me know what you thought of it as i reckon its an all time story that is a must see!!

They lose me when the V8

Mon, 2017-10-09 15:11

They lose me when the V8 goes & that's from someone that hasn't missed a Bathurst since the early 80's. As a kid I didn't understand as much, it was about spending time with my old man, so no V8's didn't bother me. Now I'm older though I appreciate the V8 & it's place in Australian racing history. I kind of think of it as being fed prime rib eye for a couple of decades then being told the new feed of mince is going to be just as good. No it's not. Passion for the V8 Supercars I've got. I've heard the new POS several times & my complaints are the same as everyone else that has witnessed them first hand "You can't feel them coming & you can't hear them until you can see them". They've lost me.

Love V8's,

Mon, 2017-10-09 07:45

But as a X Rally Oz organiser the best EVER noise I heard coming from any motorsport car including the F1 was the Turbo Anti-lag Bang's coming from the World rally cars in the late 90's. You could here those cars coming from miles away in the forest. If they bring that back in twin turbos it would be amazing, but I think technology in Anti-lag has surpassed that

For me it's the V10 Formula 1

Mon, 2017-10-09 15:45

For me it's the V10 Formula 1 engine spinning at over 18000 RPM.

It's probably the sound that most people would associate with formula 1 even 10 years after they stopped using them.

If you wanna see something a bit different check out these crazy mofo's in Super Trucks - plenty of three wheel round the corner action here

Race starts at 3:00 if you want to skip the build up.

Yeah They are a good to watch for sure.

Not only 3 wheeling from corners, those things pretty much have a paw up full time from the horsepower and sweet suspension they run.

 Shimka i love your passion.....

I have a feeling dad mighta tucked you in back in the good old days in a Brock 05 little doona......

I'm actually just a sports nut that cant help but get sucked into what Bathurst produces every year, its the only V8 race i watch....

Question..... - Do you think you'd still love the 8's as much as you do if they still allowed Skyline to win everything?

Again i aint no petrol head but i love quality and if i were to win say 40 mill the latest NISMO GTR would have to be one of the first toys I purchased....

Banned in the states unless on a race track....

 I've always had & always

Tue, 2017-10-10 20:21

I've always had & always will have, a love affair with the V8 engine. It doesn't matter what era, I always went for the V8's. Perhaps because my dad always had V8's, I was just naturally drawn to them. I actually prefered the Group A racing as I did like to see the differences in the strengths of the cars & I think it made for much more interesting racing. So yeah, I'd still watch it, as long as the V8's were in the field, I wouldn't care if they weren't winning. I actually really like Skaife & Jim in the GTR's, even while they were kicking the V8's butts. I even had a soft spot for Crompo in the GTR just because he's always seemed like such a down to earth guy. These days I actually prefer the Touring Car Masters series for the variety of classic iron & the obvious differences in the strengths of each car. I'd rather see them do 161 laps than any V8 Supercar from any year.

A GTR would be on my list of toys to but I'd be going for a HK Monaro first. That's been my dream car since I was a young tacker. Ooohh, & a Valiant Pacer. It's only a 6cyl but damn that's a sexy car.

You must remember this

Thu, 2017-10-12 15:58

Sounds like a line from a song, I can recall seeing Norm Beachy racing an EH Holden at Caversham and being done over by the Georgan ( not sure of the spelling) brothers racing 3.8 jaguars.
