New Eskie

Did a trip out Friday with a mates young bloke who was keen for a fish...after cancelling the Monday before we headed out despight an average forcast witch include winds from "Northerly direction" first half of day wasnt too bad although the bite was slow, we picked up a few undersized dhues, srg baker and surprisingly a few cuttle fish....with the bite time from 2 onwards we decided to stay a few more hours given the turn of wind to westerly would assist the ride home. Well as soon as the wind changed we managed a few from two different spots....got to give credit to the young bloke in trying conditions, at 14 i didnt hear one crip....and he persisted with the abrolhos SP all day even though the offer of fresh occy was there. I manage to land mine on jig first with his coming about an hours later on the 6" Pink / Purple Paddle tail....hes done quite a few trips over the years but has struggle to land many good fish...to say he was happy is an understatement....had to tell him to settle mid fight when he went to tighten the drag but after that all was good, the fish took some good runs 40m of water.

New Madfish bag arrived Thursday through Oceanside and was put straight to use, its not often i land fish over the 800 mark but when i do its a pain putting them on ice, especially when its multiple so having the bag was a must, first throught was it's a bit on the bulky side but that soon past...filled with home made block ice it done a great job with the fish coming home straight and colder than anything ive had in the eski....buying an eski over the 1m mark is expensive and to me adds extra weight i dont need.

Videos a bit rough but a good fight none the less...added sound due to the wind.

Nice work boys. I'm looking forward to the day my boys graduate from whiting and herring to dhus. Still a battle to keep them interested for more than 20 mins at the moment.
