To all owners I like to have your opinion of how Van Staal reels compares to Daiwa, Shimano or Penn. While I started with Penn and Daiwa half a lifetime ago, I always had to work harder in winding in the Penn compared to the Daiwa or Shimano. All this is really are gear ratios which Penn's is worse than any of the Japanese maybe all other makes. I like to know what the Van Staal is like in this sense when fishing with it. When you are getting old like me you need all the help you can get.

In reference to ease of
In reference to ease of winding..( im going to asume stella, saltiga and van staal seeing the price point is similar)
Stella is easier followed by saltiga then van staal.. Please dont take this as whats stronger or better.. Just whats easier to wind.. Low gears will also help. The differance is going to be friction points and engineering tolerance.. The van staal was never ment to be "easy" just tough and water resistant
