A very Kimberley (Lyne) Fishing Weekend
With the weather playing the game this weekend we decided to hit the Gulf and see what we could muster up.......
A plan was hatched and three of us boarded the boat and steamed out from Wyndham for a weekend of fishing and camping.
It was Nick (aka Dropbear, due to his exceptional ability to drop all but one Barra all weekend ), Jamie (aka Codman, due to his love affair with all things stumpjumping cod lures.......) and myself (aka Kota Gimp).
First stop was Fathom Rock and some taste of bluewater reef fishing. Dropbear and Codman exploring the depths
Plenty of fish on the sounder but only blue salmon.......
Next was a small rocky point on the south side of the Lyne River
Figured with the recent cold weather, a small bay with shallow water would have Barra sunbaking in the mangroves.........
True to form Codman was the first to strike
This was the only fish boated and we must have dropped a good ten fish from one mangrove...........but fun all pinging casts over each other only to be smashed in the wood
From here it was up into the Lyne River for some rocks to camp on for the night
Five star dinner, bread, burgers and beer.......
Codman made sure we had a fire
The lads camped on the rocks and I slept in the boat.
Awoke this morning to another beautiful Kimberley day and drove the short distance to our prefered wood for some Kota trolling, Codman strikes first again.......
She was a beautiful fish of 79cm
I picked up a nice 35cm Jack
And then it was my turn to boat a Barra at 57cm
With the tide turning it was time to head for home. The Wattles are all flowering yellow this time of year
It was all to hard for princess Codman
And as usual, the ride home was flat, blue and peaceful......
We must have hooked 30 plus Barra for the trip but only boated 4, but it was a wild weekend and we also scored Fingermark and Jacks and the odd Skinny.

Noble is mine Clint
Picked her up new mid May. She's running a 115 Suzi 4 stroke and 80lb Minn Kota
She's already done 20 hours in three trips. Def rides like glass and punches through the chop.
Solid boat at all 4mm.

Lyne
We were throwing small plasitic or shallow running lures and the visuals did not disappoint.
Yeh different camping spot but the other one further upstream is better. That is the rocks at Jwe hole, she's about 12-16m deep and holds fish. Also allows for a breeze.....
We dropped some good fish upstream and the tides were only 3m.
