Hey Spinnerak,It's no secret
Hey Spinnerak,
It's no secret Walpole is Black Bream heaven.
We were down there two years ago at the same time and absolutely smashed it on Bream and a yak will easily get you onto good ground.
Any of the flats around Colemine caravan park, particularly around the entrance to the Frankland River should see you getting some action. We we're catching them in inches of water at times so don't be afraid to get in close to the weeds.
The banks of the river itself are just a mess of structure for the big blackies to hide in.
Bets bait for us was small chunks of Herring. We we're using the simplest of rigs - just a small ball sinker running up to a small wide gap hook - all on ten buck rods with 4lb mono - that's it easy peasy.
Early mornings and late afternoons were the best times for the Bream with afternoons producing the biggest specimens.
We cracked a number of 40cm plus fish over the course of a week with the average about 28 to 35cm.
We are going down the week before you so I will post up a report on how we go.
Going to try a few lures this time just to mix things up a bit
It's a beautiful spot to fish - the scenery is awesome - the amazing Bream fishing we experienced was just a bonus.

It really is fishermans heaven, we cleaned up on the crabs in the river also
only one undersized crab and one female was caught, with plenty of big males to be
caught!, that was start of march tho
