Walpole at chrismas

Hi all
I'm heading to walpole and i'm leaving the boat at home (much to my disgust!) as per the minister for recreations instruction, but i'll have plenty of time to chase some fish landbased with the kids. was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a couple spots we might get a blacky or 2? or even just some herring or whiting.
Any help appreciated.
Also any touristy things that might stand out in your memory.
Cheers

put your dates up. There seems to be heaps of people heading to Walpole over Christmas/New year.

Serious stuff
Leave the minister for receation home and take the boat, toughen up a little and start wearing the pants or you are going to regret your time in Walpole!!!!!

Gday Wrassassin
I've ventured down that way a couple of times before. There is a place called peaceful bay which is pretty close to Walpole. Had some good skippy/whiting fishing there (you can drive a 2wd vehicle right down onto the beach)
Try the inlets too as small pinkies can be caught here @ times. I recommend the tree top walk/valley of giants for the kids. There is also a small farm near Bowbridge which has some dinosaur skeletons and reptiles to look at and also some birds which you can feed and sit on your shoulder etc. good luck

knoll
Try the knoll out near colemine, plenty of accesses to try and great l/b for pretty much everything on offer. If you don't believe me, just ask Goatch.

Out
Out the front of the colmine caravan park there is a boat ramp..with heaps of old pilons..seen guys there catching heaps of fish. If not...look out into the water about 300m to the left of the ramp, and you will see some rocks. Its quite shallow, "wade" out and fish the rocks..plenty of action!

Fisheries and DEC plus other departments have a heap of educational stuff for kids right through the January holidays at Walpole. A small example (severely edited) -
Jan 5th 10.30-1.00 Dept Fisheries display at Rest Point - learning what lives in our oceans and estuaries through fun activities
Jan 6th 10.00-11.00 Bare Bones Fisheries Science at Rest Point - watching a dissection of fish to determine its age and what it ate for lunch
Jan 18th 2.00-5.00 Dept of Fisheries display at Coalmine
Jan 19th 10.30 Estuarine investigation at Coalmine - a study of creatures in the inlet
Every other day something called Kids on the Beach.
