 @kingfisha1, yep lures

Thu, 2014-04-24 21:33

 @kingfisha1, yep lures buddy. Halco red and white deep divers and 50gm twisties were the winners. We did get a bit of action on poppers but most of the time the fish were down deep.

@ beau, thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it.

@Goodz, yeah, we had a ball - best fun was seeing the kids getting into it. Couldn't believe our luck with the weather. When we arrived the swell was around 4-5m and it was as windy as hell, then it just settled down into what you saw.

 I was there up the east end

Fri, 2014-04-25 08:22

 I was there up the east end of blue holes last Friday and there was a 6m swell, I doubt you would have been able to get out of the mouth that day it was huge! Did you guys head out any further with the good weather and chase other fish?

No Goodz, we were there

Fri, 2014-04-25 22:49

No Goodz, we were there pretty much for the Salmon and the Black Bream.

Next year we do plan to venture out a bit further and explore a bit of other action.

Word is that you don't have to go to far to get into some great bottom fishing.

@spoon, thanks for the

@spoon, thanks for the positive comment, appreciate it.

@MattMiller, cheers Matt, yep this will be gold to look back on in twenty years. Trying to make sure the kids know there is life outside of a screen.

@Reefmonkey, yes the water clarity was amazing, no way I was going over the side for a look though.

That very first Salmon we got boatside had a 5 - 6 foot noah follow him right to the surface. That's why I opted out of bending over the side with the net and just grabbed the line. Certainly added to the excitement.

Ah, yes, Rosebud the skateboarding chicken...

Her, Honey and Egg-a-tron, apart from giving us three eggs a day are the best damn fish scrap cleaner upperers you can get.

We always let them out after cleaning fish on the grass in the backyard and they clean up every little scrap. I don't know where chickens developed a taste for fish but they love it.

camping trip from nornalup too the mouth. Plenty of bream and small pinkys at the mouth.

 Hey Matt88, Yeah, we did OK

Tue, 2014-04-29 16:30

 Hey Matt88, Yeah, we did OK on the Bream, no doubt the system is healthy as there are plenty of small ones about.

The biggest we cracked for the week however was only around 33cm.

We had to catch around 10 - 15 fish for the odd individuals that went over 25cm.

This is our third trip down in four years and last year was pretty much the same.

On our first trip down we were there about a month later and the bigger Bream were everywhere. 35 - 40cm fish were common, so we have been a bit perplexed as to where the bigger ones have gone.

But for the last two years we have not had much rain in the weeks leading up to our trip and according to the one of the locals I had a chat with the rains are a trigger for the bigger Bream to move down stream, and maybe that extra couple of weeks later makes all the difference.

None the less, fishing for Bream on a windless Frankland River at sunset is pretty hard to beat.

How'd you guys go? Crack any of the bigger ones?

Awesome Vid

Fri, 2014-05-23 09:04

 That looked like sooooo much FUN was had by all. The conditions looked epic!

I can see myself getting down that way to enjoy some of that type of action.

It may be a good idea to get all the family a cheap pair of polaroids  and sunhats to wear as protection from flying lures.

Thanks for a great post.
