Wanted: Pedal Fishing kayak for dams & rivers
Submitted by Giles on Sat, 2020-10-10 17:05
Hey all
I am planning on doing a bit or trout/redfin fishing down at Waroona/Harvey dams soon.
Can anyone suggest a cheap "pedal" kayak that would be ideal for that. I am not looking for anything fancy, just something basic, lightweight, afforable and that I can "pedal" as I will be spinning so dont want to paddle at all.
If anyone has an old one gathering dust, I am happy to buy a second hand one as well if anyone wants to get rid of one.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks

Mate of mine went down week or

in a day landbased on the other side
of the ramp at Harvey. Cheers

Thanks Pirate
Nice , I cant wait, need some fishing and peace and quiet. Was he catching on the eastern side of the dam (Stansfield Rd side) that seems to be where a lot of good structure is.
My first time to Harvey dam. I will do a lot of land-based but also have a little kayak I will use too.

I fished outta a hobie sport
I fished outta a hobie sport for many years. Done the job well for rivers and harbours even offshore on glamour days. Can get em for around $1000. Pedal drives alone are worth $600. Can go down the dragon ( i think they are called) pedal yaks path but I've never heard anything good about em and a hobie will make them piss any day of the week. If you've got more of a budget keep an eye out for some cheaper pro anglers they are a lot bigger and probs around the $2500 for an older model but they are the bees knees for river and dam fishing. I would never sell mine i love it that much

Youre a legend Rob, thanks mate
I leave everything to the last minute as usual.
Im down at Harvey for 29/30/31 of this month so just wanted to see if I could find something to use for then. If I cant, I will probably have a good look around when I get back and get a decent Hobie or something and just use my little Finn Gizmo this time.

Searano Marine in Malaga
Searano Marine in Malaga have a big range of kayaks and even hire them for weekends I think. I saw a pretty good looking one there for about $750 that was a pedal type. Their website doesn't show everything but give Larry a call on 9248 2242 and he will look after you. I just bought an inflatable from him on the weekend.
