Getting caught and going to court would be enough deterrent for me and most people I would expect. Agree with confiscating his boat, but not sure if the bloke is a family man with kids and the impact of losing a grand that could have on a family that was not involved and yes he should have thought about that before committing the crime. Something for people considering committing this offence is the shame and embarressment that your family will be subjected to is it worth it in the end?
