washing fish stains
Submitted by lurcha on Sun, 2010-02-14 09:23
Hi guys,
I have a couple of shirts i wear for most my fishing but over time the blood and fish slime stains have built up. I have tried soaking overnight in nappi san etc but havent had much luck, so was just wondering if anyone else had any tips to keepin them clean other than buying new shirts?
cheers

Why bother?
They only get dirty again. If your like me your not there to make a fashion statement LOL. As you can probably imagine, I fish alone quite a bit Ha Ha. I don't buy fishing shirts often, I buy shirts to wear casual. Much to the dismay of my wife I wear good stuff fishing occasionally. That generally creates a new fishing shirt with multiple stains and the need to buy another casual shirt.......

i'm far from a fashion
i'm far from a fashion statement, the wifes always telling me my clothes are daggy! I just have a couple of the long sleeve uv shirts i wear on the boat and at $50 each i dont want to replace them all the time. I guess its more for photos etc. suppose i should catch bigger fish that way no one would see my shirt!

Yeah I figure why ruin a few
Yeah I figure why ruin a few sets of clothes when you can destroy one. I wear an old ground effect cycling jersey with long sleeves and a high neck. It has the fantastic side effect of making it look like I caught all my fish in one day!

I dont "wash"
my fishing gear per se, just hang it on the line and hose it off. Its fishing gear, there should be signs of past skirmishes on it!

Okay, was expecting the "I don't wash, I'm a bloke" statements from the rest of you but there aren't too many!
Have you tried Preen Lurcha? May work a bit better than napisan, but won't get squid ink out.

Just post pics of fish larger than your torso. Then no one can see what your wearing

Hmmmm I have a bad habit of hugging fish after I catch
them. That nasty habit has led to many of my Fishwrecked shirts now being a mass of stains.
It also led to Sherbs and I being accused of having been in a fight when we dropped into a burger joint on the way home from fishing one night.
Sorry Lurcha, I cannot offer you much hope. I even had my chickens have a good peck at the stains, but nothing works (Lol).
