Welcome back from your trip up north .
Remember kayaks, sails, rods ,camera can be repaired or replaced and skin will grow back
I always wonder who would win out of Reef v Kayaks, now i know for sure,LOL

Curious
Now I'm curious.
Sure skin grows back but scars remain to remind you for a long time after the event.

Thanks Shorty...
Had an 'incident" involving rudder failure on the Adventure Island, a large swell, and a strong Nor'easter, ending up in a lot of lost gear, and a semi-smashed kayak.
No footage, as i wiped out the camera mount on the way "off" after copping a few big sets, losing a cam, and some bark, the reef took a bit more. After a 100m swim and righting the yak, i managed to get back to the beach.
Was all good, these things happen.

All good mate
Yes i always wear a PFD1, frankly i swim better without it tho.
Was a bit scary, but i learned a few things, and am pretty happy with the way i handled it.

Fffaaaark.... that sounds
Fffaaaark.... that sounds painful and pricey! Its good you're ok though! Is the yak salvagable? I suppose you'll stick to safer fare for a while (such as fishing solo at night in the middle of cockburn sound? )
Rudder failure eh? My rudder keeps jamming lately.. I don't know whats up with it, but the stow-away lever doesn't work anymore, and the steering lever isn't what it used to be. Probably need to get inside and clean it all out..

It was all good!!
The rudder pin snapped initially, tacking hard into the NorEaster, was a common problem till Hobie started making stronger pins, then i swam round to fix it, drifted onto the bombie, just got back in the seat and a swell hit me, pushed the yak over the reef, smashing the rudder off entirely, and busted the drive.
If the cables get too loose or tight, it will drastically effect the way it works. Best to fix it early, as the handle will shear off the pin if it gets too tight.
