The tuna at west end were feeding on fry and not interested in metals or any other lures. If you want to hit tuna the ones out in the 200s are much easier to convince, they must be feeding on bigger fish.

Then use something like a fry. I wonder if 5g twisties would tempt them?
Last trip out we had some skirts out in the shallower areas but no hookups. Seemed to be feeding on little things too. I had one strike on a small skirted lure but no hookup though. I wonder if the smaller silstar christmas trees would work well (maybe in blue to blend in to be a little smaller?)

We went down to 10g twisties, tiny leadheads and even 2" SPs and still no takes. Much easier to get the fish in deeper water on.

The 5g twisties are that step thinner, which may have changed things a little bit? Perhaps not, but then maybe it makes a different? Though, not that many people have 5g twisties in their tacklebox when out wide. If the 2" SP's didnt work, I guess its unlikely the 5g twisties would have (just wondering if a really thin lure was needed).
Go deeper for sure, but just pondering how to tempt tuna when they're fussy when they're all thats around.

west end
went to west end week ago, plenty of yellow tail kingies feeding on mullies. then same day late afternoon saw some birds working around horseshoe reef, set the spread up and nail a 4kg blue fin tuna on a 2m minnow.
look for the birds try not to spook them and if you know how to muster, troll, if not stop the boat and cast lures.
