West/South Coast Bio regions bags

 G’day Gents,

can anyone give me an answer.. if i launch the boat in west coast bio region.. let’s say augusta, but drive past white point in the boat to the south coast bio region.. then drive back to augusta to put boat on trailer.. what is my bag limit? 5 or 2? I can prove the boat went into south coast bio with track lines on gps..  but can’t prove the fish were caught there. Seems a bit grey

Cant find anything in the book about this and have consistently had inconsistent info from different fisheries officers over the years which has put me off contacting them

Thanks in advance for any response

Great minds..

I was just thinking the exact same thing yesterday!! Case in point, holiday in Augusta in January and will probably fish well past Black Point where the South Coast Bioregion starts, but will be launching from the Augusta Marina.

My mind says we will have to comply with West Coast rules where we launch from, but my heart hopes Im wrong!!

Only really care about the extra Red Snapper and bag limit, and not interested in "bagging out"  but with the 2 of us would like to be able to take more than 4 fish if its legal.

Unless a definite answer will be sticking to West Coast rules I think. May contact Fisheries if nothing comes up.

Cheers,

Disco.

Only a guess but I'd say

Only a guess but I'd say it's similar to the snapper rules around here. Right now you can catch a snapper outside of the sound, then travel through the sound to the boat ramp. If you get checked they look at your gps track to make sure you didn't stop inside the banned waters. Again only a guesstimate so I'd defiantly keep looking into it

If you caught a pink outside Cockburn sound and go to Cockburn boat ramp as long as you go directly back to the ramp it all good stop along the way in the sound get done for possession just call a hillarys office and ask to speak to a fisheries officer or email a compliance officer they got back to me within 3 days about throw netting inside the marina now I have a copy on me at all times.

Not aloud mate! I was told by the head of fisheries in Busso and Fremantle. Same as fishing the Carnarvon islands and coming back in to Denham I believe

If you are landing the fish

Wed, 2017-10-04 11:28

If you are landing the fish in augusta, you are bound by the West coast region rules.

64X-1-B says it all

64X. Bag limits, application of
(1) A person must not —
(a) take more fish than the bag limit prescribed for a region
or other area of the State in that region or area; or
(b) bring onto land in a region or other area of the State
more fish than the bag limit prescribed for that region or
area; or
(c) bring into any WA waters in a region or other area of the
State more fish than the bag limit prescribed for that
region or area.

North of Freycinet island, you are out of the Freycinet Zone and it's particular limitations, but you cannot land fish caught outside back, say, at tea tree camp within the zone.
