If and when I only ever use

Thu, 2022-05-05 04:24

If and when I only ever use my reefy even in sand as I have a very long chain that settles in. Very easy to retrieve and if stuck can be driven out.

Saying that rarely anchor.

I only use a sand anchor,

I only use a sand anchor, covers all basis. I've dived a few anchor over the years with it usually being the chain that gets wrapped up.

Make sure your boat is in reverse or on the move as its dropping to avoid this.

And further to Brock's comment

Be really careful if the wind direction changes.......that can result in the chain being dragged off and then under a ledge ....again discovered this after diving to work out why snagged

All sorts

On the Quinnie it's either a sand or reef anchor that's manually set and retrieved. On the big duck it's a Delta with 10m of chain followed by miles of rode on a stress free drum winch. Only ever really use em when we're parking up on a beach never for fishing.
