What get's my goat up

I have recently taken time out lately to try and help a couple of members on here with projects and materials, one being a fairlly complex one and I spent a bit of my own time trying to work out the basics of the job so I could price it for him. The other was just for a supply of materials. What gets my goat up is that these guys never had the courtesy to get back to me one way or the other. Maybe the price was too high whatever. It'd be nice know. I won't name anyone just pisses me off.

I agree, a reply is easy. Also even from my experience I often try to answer and help peoples messages and dont even get a cheers! Pretty annoying why bother helping ?

Thu, 2013-06-06 15:33

+1 Its not hard to thank someone for there time and efforts even if it is not what they are after. Pretty rude. Hopefully in your case it is only a minority not the majority. all the best

That's my point, even if I

Thu, 2013-06-06 17:41

That's my point, even if I was over the top and I wasn't, a reply is all I've asked for.

Common decency

Thu, 2013-06-06 17:23

Agree with Andy and Vinesy, don't know how many times I've had a PM and they haven't even had the decency to add their name to it.
Bad enough when they don't fill their profile in so you can reply on something that may be relevant to where they live or fish.

Heard about how Kiwis invented using goat intestines as condoms some couple of hundred years back and how Ozzies found they worked better if you took them out of the goat first.

I have had the opposite experience......everyone I have responded to or PM'es have always responded, usually rang me and several have become pretty good mates from this site.........

99%

Thu, 2013-06-06 20:07

99% of my contact with FW members has been very good . But i rarely give quotes out to anyone these days. I'm just too busy ,so i give them an hourly rate + materials . I will usualy offer a guestamation and if they are not interested thats fine with me .

Like you i have spent many hours working out quotes just to have the client go someware else, for the sake of a few dollars. Most of the time they come back to me and ask if i can fix up the job they took elseware, thats when my rate tripples . lol .

But yes , some feed back ( good or bad ) dosn't hurt too much .

Cheers Grant ..

 Hear what your saying-i have

Fri, 2013-06-07 01:32

Hear what your saying-i have responded to calls for help here (breakdowns/fishing) via PM and received a reply (usually) but sometimes without even the courtesy of a real name on the PM.

I will extend here a general offer of assistance to FW crew passing thru the midwest and having problems or perhaps parking/Abrolhos info, but at least use a real first name rather than a nondeplume if you want real help/real info
