What was it

 While snorkling yesterday i saw a thing about a metre  long laying on the ocean floor, it was straight t hin and a silvery white color.my wife stayed near it while I went to get a small rock to drop near it but when i returned it was gone.weird  looking thing.

 Head. Maybe 3 cm in width. Long thin tail.
