What Bungs? :)

What goes around comes around and two wrongs never make a right !    Safety dictates that you act responsibly even if they didn't  

I think I would have informed them of their plugs being out because if they took their time while launching and the boat starts sinking its going to hold you and everyone behind you up.

But if it wasn't Two Rocks where there is limitted ramp space it might have been a different decision.

Karma's a bitch, they will learn that after you "forget" to tell them!

I would think karma might bite you back for not telling him but i feel your pain.

You'd be interfering with karma at work by telling them. 

I would of said to them, I thinks very rude of you to overtake at the last minute to push in what do you say to that.
They say stiff sh!t.
You say nothing till the boat is going in. But just before it goes in, tell them to stop and warn them of you discovery.

1. you get your say.
2. they feel like rude rude dumb pr#cks.
3. Happy days.

It'd depend on just how pissed off I was.

If you remained calm enough not to cause a scene, I'd reckon you told them.

I'd quickly tell them once launched if they could move their boat to the other side of the jetty so you could launch and let it sink there!! :).. then when you jump aboard your boat, just mention to them 'Bummer about those bungs fellas' whilst your on your way out of the marina!!

Some people need to learn the hard way.

i would prefer not to tell them to get a bit of pay back, but if they were ''young and dumb'' and went out 20mile with no epirb and sank and all drowned i couldnt live with thinking what if i had of told them...

Might depend on the attitude they give you. Mention that you thought it was a bit rude that they jumped in front of you and if they say "sorry mate" then tell them straight away. However if they give you a bunch of stick and go off at you then let them reverse it in, then mention the bungs reasonably quickly. Dont want them drowning the boat/doing any damage/preventing you from launching, but on the other hand, a bit of water in their boat might be deserved ;) As long as they havent pulled the trailer out, then its not going to cause that much damage/problems.

"Does that include not putting in bungs too mate?"

Then watch as everyone laughs at them, haha.

or the old "Let me just say one thing..." then as they cut you off and tell you to shutup, do exactly what they suggested ;)

edit: So many posts since I went to reply. Some very similar ideas from other FW'ers it seems.

 but not until they got there boat in the water by then the rest at the ramp would also know

scenario is, let them load bungless then have to reload, you would then have the time to load your boat while they are draining.

scenario is tell them, be the bigger man let them load and maybe yourself get in a minute or 2 quicker.

mood and circumstances dictate what to do, if your with the family or maybe some more respectable people (not me) then alert them and happy days good karma go fishing or if your like me and most people i know and would fish with watch em load, unload pull the piss and let it be known they are clowns best 5 minutes wasted waiting to load your boat.

what ever you did there is no wrong answer but.... and a big but... if they had of taken off bungs out and sank, thats not so funny and a serious issue.

moral dillema's....

I was getting ready to pull the boat out one day at the ramp and was about 50 metres away in the car. When old mate screams in with his boat on the back and  drops his boat in in front of mine (2 sided ramp) and then belts off in the car (if they don't look at you then you are invisible apparently). I thought what a wanker, but oh well 2 mins isn't gonna kill me. Anyway, he was obviously in a hurry forgot the bungs and the water in his boat was lapping the steering wheel by the time he got back. I changed sides, put the boat on and left him sitting there without a clue. Very much enjoyed the spectacle of him getting the boat back on his trailer with the tide rising fast and no help from anyone who saw what he did.

there's a certain ettiquette pull over and let them pass ...however if you were also driving a cruiser thats poor form .. ...mate I would've held off for a bit, enough for the boat to take some water ...and then suggest " gee mate the sterns looking a little low"  ( with a little smirk and the finger pointing ) I'd be fairly happy listening and watching the pandemonium/panic thereafter I think the new terminology is facepalm ....be a good laugh

ok theres been some great posts.what i done was nothing thats right not a thing i stood with another fellow who i told the story to and we bothed watched as they launched the boat.you may be thinking what a jerk you be may correct but i called it for better or worse .i took into account the boat the bravado of the turkeys on it and the geo location let me say i may have called it different if this was in a isolated place or below zero waters but it aint my concern was as one or two post say was having his boat sink before i could get mine in but ive been around boats for long enough seen this happen before and have done it myself to know that not all boats fill with water and sink honestly most of us have done this in our early boating days or had a buddy do it,,so we get my boat in i look at his boat and it looks a little heavy in the water i tell the skipper on one of the other boats i was fishing with what the story was he says we'll tell them on the way out of the marina but the turkey was out of there with out any regard for speed limits now im not about to go chasing him as i headed out of the marina on a north westerly route i looked around for any sinking boats and could see off to the side a runabout heading slowly back to port i assume it was them not sure but when i got back to the ramp later in the day there vehicle was not there.. This sort of person has to learn the hard way me telling them how rude it is to push in or the dangers of driving like a clown or me putting there bungs in for them would be a waste of my time.what i done slows people down and makes them think.. they may be members on this site if so would like to get there take on it...

We can all take from this when at the boat ramp dont push in or stand looking getting pissed off when some boaters struggling get in there give em a hand means your in or out faster and alls good... cheers trev..

 let him go then slashed his tyres so he had that to deal with when hes madly rushing to get his boat out of the water. not really but would have made for an intereting read.

 personally i would have told them however rude or arrogant they may have been or acted. wy concern would be the safety of not just them but others that may help them if the boat was sinking. i couldnt just let them go out without telling them, it just isnt right

some small boat handling course trainers are accustomed to taking bungs out or reversing fuel lines etc etc just to see who is one the ball....  me personally, I would have stayed well away from the transom of his boat so no accusations could be made against me, and then bought it to their attention on the way out of the marina.  perhaps with some advice as to how to get the water out through the bungs by increasing speed and have a chuckle at them as they try to get the bungs back in....

So, yes, I would have told him. " Mate, I'm not telling you this because I like you, or because you deserve it, but because even you don't deserve to get in trouble out there."

This way you'll have got your message across, made yourself feel good,made him feel like a moron and he's likely to remember tis next time he wants to jump the que...

If he just had his problem with a half sinking boat, that wouldn't make him change the way he aproaches the ramp, (except he may remember to check his bungs) and he won't have learnt much else.
