what is your boat imrovement project this winter?
Last year was the replacement and extension of my bimini to provide more shade.
This year, with the opportunity to lash out some money on a quality sounder / plotter (for a significant birthday and half decent cricket score) I thought it a good time to upgrade some other electronic stuff on the boat. I have upgraded the 27 mg radio antenna. I have bought and installed a dash mounted am/fm radio that I can stream the music on my phone through and some cheap speakers. I spent a day in the rain yesterday relocating the am/fm antenna up onto the rocket launcher. thanks to the FW member who made up the alloy mounting plate. you know who you are. next is the addition of a new dash mounted vhf radio (inc antenna and mount). that's the comms sorted.
I am in the process of mounting my (poor man's) go pro in the middle of the bimini and running the cable so I can continuously record onto a 32 gb card.
then in September I will be replacing the cheapo furuno greyscale sounder and the very basic etrex handheld gps with a top of the wozzer simrad nss7 sounder / plotter combo...
then i'll be keen to get out and find some fish.
what projects have you got planned for these cold wet and sometimes wild days?

Boat Improvements
My winter improvements (if you call mid-high 20's winter weather) have been finished. I have upgraded the 12 year old Yam 115 four stroke to a 140 Suzi four stroke about a month ago and just replaced the old stuffed furuno with one of those raymarine dragonfly 7 sounders. The easterlies have been cranking lately and haven't been about to use the boat much. I'm sorry about the comment I put in brackets people

My winter project is trying
My winter project is trying to get a marine mechanic to take an interest in my boat. I've got an oil leak on the stbd engine, water coming through the transom somewhere while under way and one of the drives is noisy. If anyone knows any mechanics north of the river (penned boat/hard stand work) that understand not wanting to be overcapitalised then please give me a shout!

Install new switch panel and completey rewire everything
from scratch. Fit new VHF radio thats been sitting in the shed for at least 2 months, replace winch cable (snapped when retrieving about 6 trips out ago) have been just tying the old cable on with a few half hitches but the cable is starting to fray and cuts my hands. Fix the two small holes in the hull that I noticed after my last trip out. Fit new telescopic outriggers for first exmouth billfish trip!

And then they would have to open a case file.

I bought a 5mtr strip of blue and same with white. Costed $13 each off ebay. Yes, they're cheapos but they're quite bright and do the job. Also comes with a wired dimmer/remote per strip.

Led light strips
Can't fault the 13 dollar light strips have had them for a couple of months now and they really light the deck up and show no signs of failing.

Solar setup finished last weekend apart from a few cable ties. Don't think a ray of light has hit it yet but installed it strongly so fingers crossed it is still attached to boat

The list is large
but the main one is replacing some rot, slip and anti foul, clean the fuel tank out, a basic service to the main and some electrical work. The electrics seriously look like a can of cold spagetti that makes me cross eyed looking at it, but I will get there. Bit of paint, a new anchor hatch ect sould be done by 2020. haha!!

Spent today repairing the engine well drain all good now - leak fixed. Got my boat sorted over the
Got my boat sorted over the last couple of weeks. Both engines out, replacement transom assemblies and legs fitted, new manifolds and risers etc. Engines serviced, cleaned up and the oil leak was just the inlet manifold didn't have enough goo when it was fitted. Boat was antifouled as well and for the first time I saw almost 30 knots yesterday and still haven't given it full throttle.
