Bloody sad to see. People going about their usual business and coming to grief like that. I hear that Aus has sent search and rescue teams over. My mates dad volunteers for the Red cross, no doubt he will go over he's had a busy year this year helping out where he can. Heads up Kiwi brothers.

Yep, floods - fires - cyclones - quakes, 2011 has had it all.  Very sad state of affairs over there in NZ.

2012 is fast approachingMaybe the ancients had it right after all.We just need to hope that yellowstone doesnt wake from its slumber anytime soon.If a few volcanos join in we could all be in strife.

Exactly what I was thinking. Isnt the date the 21st December 2012???

TC Carlos was pretty quiet, but it is absolutely pumping now. Heaps of rain and the wind is gusting to 50 knots on the patio.

Nearly windy enough for a fishing comp!

someone i work with had this theory

He think the globe has moved off its axis.

And the reason for this was the amount of iron ore moved from Australia to China and India and in some places just jumped in HUGE piles. There for changing the weight dynmics of the globe....

Quite out there theory :)

My 6 yo daughter came up with a similar theory. 45 years of upward of 150 million tpa per port (Dampier/Hedland) might add up. I think it is offset by the amount of steel we buy back off them.......and the 457 labour.

Seriously, if that was the case, I think the sqabillion tonnes of water that comes in and out each day with the tide might cause a bit of havoc....Or maybe that process is balanced with nature and what we are doing upsets the balance......Or maybe......
