When you run out of things to do with crays, you make ..............

Cray and Potato Salad

First start with a couple of decent crays.

At this size you will need to steam them for about 12 minutes. Dip in cold water to stop the cooking, then de shell and let it cool to room temp.

I decided to leave the skin on the gourmet potatoes and steamed them to keep them nice and firm.

Prep the rest of the ingredients that you want to put in to the salad. I used sweet dill pickles, fresh thyme, onion and parsley.

When ready mix all ingredients together. I used mayo, hot mustard, seeded mustard and some pickle juice. Garnish and serve.

Not really that surprising to

Not really that surprising to see a recipe in the forum entitled 'Recipes and cooking tips'?!

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Thanks Dan.

Most just whinge too much to see that these were caught hence related to fishing. I suspect that most of them don't realise that you do not go out and buy crays this size to make salad with. That is a dinner spoon in the pic, to buy a couple of crays that size would make a big hole in the pocket.

Instead of boiling them, try

Instead of boiling them, try taking th meat out green, cutting into rough chunks, coat in a light drizzle of olive oil and a clove or two of crushed garlic and toss it onto a hot BBQ for a few minutes, until just cooked...

We have been doing this for a while now for using crays in salads etc and find it far more flovoursome.

I do similar mum. If you cook

I do similar mum. If you cook them quite hot without burning they get a nice crunchy bit on the stringy parts

This is a fishing SITE !

Wed, 2012-05-02 21:32

This is a fishing SITE ! Hence everything related to fishing. To be honest I wish there was a cooking section on the site. Some of the dishes i have seen look bloody delicious , only wish they left a recipe and good instructions . Definately somthing i would be interested on fishwrecked , specially because there is alot of different cultures and people on the site would be grea to try cooking fish in other ways . Just my two cents.
