Where to buy the best oysters

Gonna grab some oysters for NYE. I've never schucked them so just want to get some schucked on the day. Any suggestions where to go north of the river?

Cheers

Thanks Shark1. I've herad their name before. Unfortunately they're closed for the day now. Do you know what they normally charge per dozen? Also is it hard to schuck them? I'm only talking maybe 5 dozen so perhaps just get them schucked tomorrow?

 they sell schucked and

 they sell schucked and non

if u gonnna eat all in 1 day - buy shucked

IMHO

so shucked best 2 -3 days afer u buy them - they died and developed taste- on 1st day when u get em of larniers u put lemon on them and u can see the muscle still contracting

if whole best at day 5 - 7 i shuck the day before if i can - more taste less seawater flavours

if u gonna cook em - just get em of woolies ;p

easy to shuck but for fk sakes please go buy a  filleting glove and use it on your holding hand( tea towerl underoyster helps as well

ask the boys at larniers - they will give a a quick demo- can be a fun night to get the blokes to shuck em for their women - but not when drinkin without a glove

( party ended in fiona stanley emergency - shucking hand with knife stuck inside)

the knives bcf sell for about $3 is good enuff- i grind an edge on 1 side

As a back up

Burswood Seafood in Vic Pk sell NZ 1/2 shelled oysters in jumbo, large and medium sizes but they are frozen.  All these sizes will dwarf the oysters you see at Coles or Woollies.

 For the record, the Tassie

For the record, the Tassie oysters from Larniers were amazing! I'm picky with seafood and oysters in particular but these were so fresh and creamy! Next time I'll schuck them myself to avoid the odd bit of shell but thanks Shark1 for the recommendation! I'll always buy from there in the future. $10 a dozen cheaper than good seafood suppliers who buy from Larniers anyway!

Cheers!

Cheers Sharkie, I'll look into this as me and the missus love nothing more than FRESH unshucked oysters.

One question though - Do they do supply the local Albany ones ??
