Where to fish Bunbury?

Hey all,

Moved down to Bunbury a few months back now and haven't wet a line as yet. Hoping to change that asap so wondering if any of you guys could help me out with some shore based spots??..Thinking I might try this week if we get some nice weather like today. Anywhere nice and quiet and you can catch some herring/whiting etc?

Is the leschenault estuary any good?? .. I can honestly say Im still yet to see a single person fishing the shore - from bunbury up to australind. I have seen a guy riding a pushbike carrying a crab net though.

Cheers,

Ben

Can't help but

Call into Gotone in Bunbury and have a talk to Mark. We usually pop in and see him on our visits down that way. He's also a member on here and may give you some idea via PM if you can't make it into the store. There are also quite a few other South West boys on here that may be able to help.
Cheers,
David

I am also plauged with the curse of boatless-ness and am happy to help you out. I go to the outer harbour under where the boat docks, heaps of fun on light gear there are king george whiting to 37cms tailor to 40cms Little pink snapper that go to 32cms (no keepers yet unfortunatley) and last but not least mulloway cruise around there.  If your free for a fish tomorow i'd be happy to help you out. Cheers, George

Hey mate, can try the cut

Sat, 2009-07-11 20:21

Hey mate, can try the cut tis very hit and miss though, ive got some salmon, whiting herring and the occasional skippy there some good tailor and ive heard the occasional mulloway at belvedere/buffalo beach. flood gates are ok for some fun on the light gear plenty of whiting and leather jackets around even some skippy if your lucky, like monkey said the outer harbour is good. when the tides right up can ussualy pick up some soapies about 100m up from the parade where the boats dock. If your ever bored and would like a fishing buddy drop me a message and we can catch up for a fish. Theres a group of us southwest boys down here every so often we hold a bbq, get together good way to meet all the guys and find the low down on bunbury!

wELCOME TO THE SITE! There are a few of us from bunbury mate. If one of us cant help someone else should be able too. there are a few shore based options. The cut, where the estuary comes out, there are a few spots on the collie river for bream the breakwall at outer harbour and the beaches, back beach, the groyne at BP beach and belvedere beach are worth a shot. There are freshwater options as well that are good such as harvey weir and logue brook which are just down the road. And dont forget busso jetty when it gets going again. Its shut at the mo!!

Couldntcatchacold you're relatively new to bunbury as well arent you?.. I was actually googling to find info on fishing in bunbury and your post on here came up which is how i found this forum!!

Do you mean the parade hotel?? .. Ive been past there quite a bit and there seems to never be anyone there!! Such a nice little area there.

I'm going to have to find myself some way of finding out where all these spots actually are - I have no clue!!!

the Cut, Bunbury

Sun, 2012-12-02 20:36

hey all, came here to describe where the Cut in Bunbury is. Was there recently, and took me ages to find out where it is!

its the VERY VERY END of Leschenault drive. Theres a platform there, a bench to cut fish, also a toilet(dirty) and rocks to fish from. Theres also a secluded beach there.

You get to Leschenault drive off Estuary Drive. Once you turn off Estuary DRive thers a security guard and boomgate(as Alcoa is there too). Take first right after boom gate and this is Leschenault drive. Keep going until you the road passes over rail way tracks and theres a turning with a sign saying "Turkey Point". Take this right turning. Going straight goes to Alcoa.

Then just go all the way to the very very end. Bring lotsa torches as no lights at night!!
