Where to get a good repair?

Hi
I've got an old fibreglass 5.5m with a 25 year old Mercury (still going well). I need the steering fixed - all seized up and now broken (thanks to me trying to force it :-) )
The boat is in Warnbro - anyone know who can do a good job cheap :) - I don't got loads of money to spend (otherwise I'd buy a new boat!)

Theres no such thing as a cheap fix/ repair with boats.
Just go by a new steering systwm and fit it yourself. Whitworths will have what you need You will save a packet and its not hard to fit. Intructions are pretty easy to follow ,If you get stuck theres plenty of info on the web.

Not hydraulic
$1000 would be for hydraulic steering. You would only need mechanical for that size boat.
I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.

$1000 seems a bit steep
you can get a hydraulic system for that, if you just have the cable system, stick with that, they are a lot cheaper

I replaced my steering with a Non feed back cable kit last year. Everything you need and it was only. $330.

You wont be able to buy
You wont be able to buy direct through BLA. There the distributors of boating hardware the dealers use. My mechanic got it through them and l fitted it. Like l said whitworths will have everything you need or go see the guys at Chivers Marine.
