dont know who told you 3k

dont know who told you 3k from TLS but that would imply a return of 20%, think you will find the return is more like 6%. That is on the shares, assuming they dont fall in value....

Hard question to answer not knowing whether you "need" the 15k or not, if you have just been through a life changing event - it might help to do something to clear your vision - like a good holiday!

Telstra has had a dream run , Might be time for a slow down for them.
The idea of buying a stock that will give a dividend is a good one. I would be having a think about someone like BHP who have gone through tough times but should recover in the better times.
Keep the money for now , you will probably need it in your new life, A fall in land prices or housing might be on the way if mining keeps falling also.
Or go to Thailand !! haha

I am off again on the 4th of april to Thailand with wife and young bloke for a month, it leaves Bali for dead

I think your signature is summing this one up nicely mate.. haha

At the end of the day, do you want the money to make you more money(investing etc), or make memories of good times(holidays, boats etc)

maybe look at buying into the bank instead of putting money in it. Westpac for example it's dividends are close to a 5% yield

just glad as a self funded retiree I locked my term deposit in at 4.75 percent 18 months ago with one of the big 4 banks or I would be in the crap, you can get higher investment rates with other investment mobs but you don't have the federal government bank investment guarantee

15K ouch .. I’m off to pick up some flowers for the mrs , I was stupid and responded with the sentence  “I don’t agree”  this morning ..

No idea investment wise ..  but wish you the best , it takes a bit of time to get back on your feet .. in the meantime I’m sure there’d be a few blokes on here you could go fishing with

 A $ saved is a $ earned Sup,

Even @ 2.5% its probably better than putting it into something like boats that are sponges for more $...

Invest it wisely mate, alot of people struggle to get 15k in their hands...

All the best,

I just heard an ad on 96 fm saying you can buy a house from $295 per week. Use the 15k as a deposit then rent two spare rooms out to pay the mortgage.
