So by my calculations SandGroper84 - If he is not a user, he is a supplier - Right !!! Not that many comments from the dockers supporters for some strange reason.
yeah someone got done but they dont want to be like the weavles , they want to win some games. as said just because he was caught with some it doesnt mean he was a user. maybe he is but im sure we will find out soon enough. he has been removed from anything to do with the team atm, including training.
im an eagles supporter and wat they did was wrong but please people dont judge unless you have the facts straight. and i dont think they will say for sure, there is too much drugs in the afl to point the finger, not just in the west
There are that many footy players hittin the coke friday nights. You would be suprised how many.
Only takes 3 days for coke to be out of your system so if they get tested tues- friday they wont show up positive
Cmon guys, dont be so naive. Just because its in his possession dosent make him a user? I guess that would make him a supplier then if he's not gonna use it ! unless he is a collector of all things strange and exotic.
Go to the leftbank to watch this years GFinal and have a look at whos off there face and play for the dockers, last couple of years there have been quite a few.
Pull ya head in mate, i think when you are having a drink their with a couple of paramedics who deal with people on ilegal substances they might have a bit more of an idea than you
You know what really shits me, is that these guys are warned and warned but still take the piss. It should be like the mining industry, instant dismissal. I don't care who they are an Ablett or a rookie, if these blokes really want a career in the big league then they should be towing the line.
got to agree with you on that one. what sort of example are these guys setting for the young kids. they see their heroes doing drugs so it must be ok.get caught once and your out on your earand dont let the door hit you on the way out.
Yep Yep. They train hard but they get paid well enough for it. No 1 strike, 2 strikes, 3 strikes. You get caught once - You get arsed! That's how it should be. They should write it up in their contracts. Then they might think twice about doing it!
he only got 6 weeks, and its his first strike, he only got named becoz of the police investigation, was acting suspisious in an alley way, he HASNT pissed dirty. atleast 14 players HAVE tested positive for ellicit drugs since november last year. i agree with wazzbat, one strike- named shamed and axed
yep name and shame....good way to ruin young guys lives for making a mistake...mebye we should cut one of thier hands off too so they can never play again, that would show em!
c'mon, he who lives in glass houses and all of that guys......
Yep looks like he has done the wrong thing but hey give him a chance.
Like a great man once said let he who is without sin cast the first stone and your right ruste people living in glass houses shouln't throw stones.
I might also add that he is the only player from the FFC thats been done.We won't go through the other mods record on this matter as i haven't got all night.
Good to hear from you Paully you've finally got somthing to crow about.
Have a look at the word naive in the dictionary Outwide, and understand what it means and how so profound, citing such great man quotes - Seems the stories of yesteryear have provided you and other docker supporters with much comic relief, but now reality bites hey - bit hard to handle isn't it !!!! Oh and another thing, judging by your comment, you must be so happy that he is the only player player from FFC, well now, that makes it all good then i guess hey.
He only made a mistake because he got caught.HE is the one who should be thinking I will ruin my career if I take drugs or get caught. There are plenty of decent young guys who don't get a chance.Like it or not these blokes ARE role models. We all get to make choices in our lives ,I work in the oil and gas industry and my keep my nose clean because I love my career, it's not that hard.
its about the company you keep when your in the spotlight with so much cash and being so young, he would be getting influences from everywhere, peer pressure, mates, accosiates just randoms doing it around him. from what ive been told he didnt piss dirty, just was in possesion of coke, which isnt any better but it would be hard for someone so young to not be influenced by others.
That's bullshit. We all make our own decisions. If he wanted to have it, that's his choice and he pays the consequences for it. If he didn't want to have it, he's still a dickhead for having it. We are all influenced in one way or another but we don't all get sucked in so easy like some do.
The day you sign up to play AFL (ie. Getting paid for a game you love playing) is the day you should be pulling your head in for good. These guys are lucky to be getting paid for job they love.
If my employer told me he would pay me $270 odd grand a year if I quit drinking, smoking, snorting, etc etc. I wouldn't think twice about it. And I wouldn't think twice about stuffing up either cause the pay is too good. What a Dick!
I don't see how it effects his ability to do his job? If it is performance enhancing, the AFL can act, if it is breaking the law, then it is the police who should act. I know that if any of us were found using or being under the influence while on the job we would probably lose our jobs, but I hate the way the AFL sticks its beak into every last segment of a players life, especially when they are on some downtime.
For the "he is a role model" crowd, I think that if we (the parents) of the next generation are allowing footballers to influence our kids lives more than us we have a lot more to do than worry about one guy carrying some coke down an alleyway.
You would have to be kidding yourself if you think these guys aren't role models. I coach auskick and all the kids have a footy hero. Even when we had one of the eagles rookies down the kids were lining up for photos and autographs, and I reckon it's a good healthy thing.Better than them sitting in front of a computer all day.You make it sound trivial that this guy was in possession of coke.
Its not their choice that people idolise them. It is important that we distinguish between a footy hero and a role model. I like the way Beau Waters plays footy, but I have no interest in having his hairstyle or lifestyle habits. Kids have been emulating their favourite sportspeoples onfield antics for years, it is the media that has put the rest of their life in front of us. I wish I could find the interview Chris Judd did on this way back when he was about 19. He put it the best I have ever heard it said.
It would interesting to ask high paid elite sportspeople if they would "buy back" their privacy if they could.
I don't think it is a small thing to carry coke, but I think he has the choice to live his private life his way without fear of losing his job because of the "needs" and opinions of unrelated third parties.
He is looking well and truly a step too slow these days. Maybe for the next derby he can play on Adam McPhee so they feel a bit better about themslves.
