Who's heading north
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2021-04-04 17:34
So who's heading north this year for a fishing trip, when and where?
I've literally spent the last two days doing trailer bearings ,maintenance and making up a heap of rigs.
Ganraloo beckons mid May and like to be ahead of the game in preparedness.
Even though the sharks are in my mind it won't ever stop me heading up there as there are lots of options fishing wise, and on windy day enjoy a drive down to Tombstones to watch the ballsy surfers on the huge reef break there.
Bring it on!!

Was looking forward to catching up with you big john. Hopefully next year after missing out 2 years in a row.
Got back to Broome yesterday after travelling down to Perth and back. Luckily I enjoyed a couple of feeds of marron while collecting the good wife in pemberton otherwise it would have been a wasted drive.

Broome in the next few days
Broome in the next few days with the family and the van. Probably not much fishing although a mate has just moved up and wants a few lessons on chasing sails so might make an exception for a couple of days.
Apart from that probably not much unless a good weather window pops up for a montes esky filler.

Maiden trip north of Kalbarri to Shark Bay in June.
Got a 3 day overlap with my cousin who used to deckie for a wetline pro there so hopefully will be able to follow him out and get acquainted with the local marine life fairly quickly.

What to make from the forecasts! sea breeze is using the American forecasts and BOM is using the European ones and they are both different! American says Saturday is written off and the caravan park will be closed, European one says Monday. Do we go early and leave early or go late and leave late?

We've just done our final logistical planning, read (how much pi55 to take) And are very excited with fingers crossed for good weather at least for 3 or 4 days.

Quick return
Son and his boys came down from Exxie last Friday to get the boys on to their first salmon, both have got marlin, sails etc but never a salmon, and now is on his way back up to get his boats and gear tied down ready for the cyclone and before the Lyndon river rises and closes the road north off.
They went down sightseeing on Sunday having a look at likely spots and lost 3 at their last stop at Hamelin Bay. Monday they hit Hamelin at 0700, all up they got 13, kept 3 releasing 10, with Jeff doing all the casting due to the distance needed to reach the fish and to do his good turn for the day, handed the rod over to a lady who had never caught one in 3 years of coming down there, for her to have something to remember
