Whose missus regularly fishes ?
Wondering how many forum members regularly fish with there partners ?
I don't mean a partner who occasionally goes along for the ride, but hard core, and into fishing as much as you are.
Unless she is rostered to work, my regular deckie is my missus, Julie, and on the odd occasion when she does have to work and the forecast is good, she aint happy !
Julie with a nice Steep Point red
With a sambo (amberjack ?) this is about the biggest fish she has brought to the boat unassisted
Her first cobia (caught on a pink z-man soft plastic)
One of MANY pinkies she has boated
Dirk Hartog estuary cod
Her first attempt at deep drop (using an Alvey deck winch). At the time I was still codless after several attempts !
With a soft plastics caught trevally of some description
Of course the down side is I'm not able share the fuel costs, but the upside is there are never any complaints about spending bucket loads on fishing and boating gear and boat and trailer maintenance.
And her idea of a holiday is a couple of weeks at Shark Bay or Walpole, rather than some resort in Bali.
But I must admit, she has put her foot down, next trip has to be either Coral Bay or Exmouth !
Cheers

My missus only comes along occasionally... but when she does, she outfishes me 3 to 1! Haha

not so much on the boat but
not so much on the boat but all our trips are planned around landbased fishing north and we make a pretty good team from her first mulloway of 12kg plus in shitty conditions to helping me land spanish macks off the stones and handlining 100lb wind on so i could get the gaff shot!
as much as i love me boys trips getting full of grog, it's defently great getting good fish with the partner and spending quality time in a beautiful place

we fish together all the time
As much as i love her, the one thing i cant handle is being outfished by her. But generally when that happens i get to have a few coldies and avoid driving, then ill get a nice ribeye or something to perk me up because the sight of another snag would kill me ;). I think she only outfishes me cos her line(technically my line) is in the water 10x more...forever handing her my rod so i can tie another rig to hers hahaha
Good things come to those who bait.

I would fish with my wife
I would fish with my wife more than anyone else, she's always keen and can hang onto her breakfast when we are anchored in metre-plus seas and a 15-20 kt southerly, more than I can say for a lot of blokes. Caught a lot of fish unassisted, big sails, monster mackerel, all the usual tropical reef species ; a red bass last year, on 30lb, have a photo of her trying to lift a big potato cod she managed on 20lb, before release. She's only little, but battles gamely. These are a couple of the fish she has managed in the last month, all on 20lb on a 6'8" spin rod, 20lb braid and a baitrunner 4500, floating a mulie. She also got two big longtails two weeks ago, and a good yft.

The 6m quintrex CC is not a dry (or soft) ride, but when I makes noises about something else, she points out we would be losing valuable fishing space
If I'm not fishing with her, I'm probably out by myself, or maybe a son if they are around. I'd post more photos, but i'd have to go back into Lightroom to resize the images downward.
eit--WTF is wrong with the images--file size down to 900kb, hyperlink protocol correct?

My missus fishes with me all
My missus fishes with me all the time. In fact she owns the boat!!
She's caught marlin in NSW, dolphin fish, YFT, 95kg bronze whaler from the beach in Namibia. In November we did a GT fishing charter in the Coral Sea - she bagged several mackerel, a 12kg coral trout, and quite a few GT's up to 20kg. To top it off she has a pending Australian and World Record for Australian Salmon on 4kg.

Good to see a lot of other ladies are not only into fishing, but quite good at it also. Seems that being outfished by the missus maybe a sore point for some though, ha ha ! I get heaps on the occasions that she does have a better day than me, but all in fun, and fortunately it doesn't happen TOO often.
