Short memories?
Used to be cnnedin WA, cn't rememberwhen they stopped. it wasOkfor tinned fish. As to fresh, there was something on Landline a whileback where fresh salmon, handled and cooked appropriately, was doing well for fish and chips at some SW restaraunts.

Not too bad
Hunts cannery in Albany used to can salmon and tuna before closing in the early 70s, the canned salmon was quite good eating.
Not sure why it closed but great to see someone has put the time in to get it on the market again but it will take some good marketing to get rid of the belief that salmon are shit fish to eat when treated properly they are better than lots of other "quality" fish

Many business were struggling 70's to 80's and closing. Loved going out on the wharf back then free for all to walk around.
We use to bottle our own salmon was all good for a feed.
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.

I heard it was fished
I heard it was fished commercially already down south...with more pressure the migration north would be on the decline one would think.

Tinned Salmon
Before the brand King George Salmon closed our family used to eat a lot of it with salads during summer and patties during winter but then again we lived in the bush and never saw fresh fish, South African Smoked Fillett was the norm for Easter, when the Albany cannery closed down we could still buy the Safcol brand but that disappeared after awhile as well. I'll try it when it comes on the market.

Used to be one in Busselton too, next to the drain at the high school down at the beach end.
