Worroora station virgin
Hi
So from previous threads Ive been given the tip that if camping near Coral bay Warroora station is a good place to go. Im leaving perth on the 11th April with boat in tow, decided to drive to Carnarvon, overnight there then get to Warroora first thing the next morning fresh to set up camp.
I guess as I have never been there Im looking for more info so I know what to expect when i get there, they have a very good website so thats been a help for camping rules etc but I am more interested in the fishing side of things which they dont really go into.
Ive been spending up lately on some good quality quite heavy duty fishing gear, I see Exmouth comes up regularely for catching GT, Mackeral, Sailfish, Marlin etc.
I would love to get into those but do they swim futher south from Exmouth down to the area near Coral Bay / Warroora?
Also due to having never been there before, I understand the reef runs all along the coast, but as Im taking my boat to beach launch, if the weathers good Id be really keen to get outside of the reef to fish, are there plenty of channels to pass through to the outside of the reef?
Also as a keen diver Ill be taking all my gear up with me, are there any stand out places you would reccommend not to miss in that area?
As always all opinions appreciated.
Thanks alot,
Kane

I've been there once, when I
I've been there once, when I was really young. We beach launched with a 4.3m boat and we got outside the reef fine. I don't rememeber too many details but Adam should able to fill you in.
Would love to fish there again with the knowledge that I have now.

There are quite a few gaps in the reef to get outside. One thing to remember--take note of the tide when you leave and what it will be when you plan to return because some of the gaps close off at low tide if a reasonable swell is running
There are heaps of good dive spots but you have to keep a close eye out for sharks,a mate was up there on the long weekend and saw heaps of all sizes from reefies to big tigers
Make your booking for the overnight stop in Carnarvon early as its usually quite busy then with all the "seagulls"[oldies booking in for their annual 6 month holidays]

14 Mile Beach
Hi Kane I'm one of those oldies who regularly camps at 14 mile. Heading up there shortly with caravan and 3.5m tinnie. There is usually a caretaker at the camp and normally if you haven't got a porta loo then you won't be able to camp on the beach.
As the Waroora website suggests, you need to bring everything with you as there are no facilities at all. Last year we were able to access the stations stock water tank a few km's from the camp but it was brackish and not suitable for drinking. OK for washing and showering.
Plenty of fish inside the reef although not the variety that you get outside. Bring your squid lures with you as last year there was plenty of squid both to eat and for bait.
Look forward to meeting you at the camp.

Sanctuaries
Lots of sanctuaries on Warroora, but still plenty of places to fish. Just be careful of the one south of 14 mile camp which is where most people stay. (easy boat launch) Also very close for authorities to check as its not far from Coral Bay.
Here's their website if you haven't seen it.

Yeah thats been a bit of a worry of mine actually,
If we are making good time we might just keep on going past carnarvon to save the hassle....otherwise itll be a sleepless night watching over our equipment. Hmmm might even leave Perth around midnight and drive all the way through, that should hopefully us plenty of time to get to Warroora and setup camp before sunset....
