Used to use them when I was
Used to use them when I was living in Victoria and they're good for perch and carp, never caught trout on them though and never tried them in anything other than fresh water.
My understanding of fisheries laws over here is that you can't use live yabbies as bait because they're considered a pest.
Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for the night. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

koonaks will walk away once
koonaks will walk away once defrosted i know that much , also most fish love it but it's much like prawns or worse in the fact that it's gone almost as soon as it hits the water and doesn't stay on the best , same with marron
in summary. have used it , gotten bites , never caught anything on it ( but have never had many 4 or so , which doesn't last long thats if i can get them past my brother first :) )

Carp will eat them but
Carp will eat them but there's much better baits for them like earthworms, maggots or dough. Barra, I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if they enjoy a munch on them. Redfin & trout love yabbies, especially the Redfin. Rig them live with a single #1 or #1/0 suicide hook through the tail. Pass the hook from the underside of the tail through & out the top so that the hook point is facing towards the rear of the yabbie, this will leave the hook point clearly exposed & the yabbie will crawl around for hours. Sometimes fish can be a bit hesitant to eat a grumpy yabbie that's waving its claws around. I know it will seem cruel to some but ripping the claws off can make all the difference between bagging out or going home empty handed. If you are fishing among rocks or fallen timber it's a good idea to rig the yabbie under a float so it's only just off the bottom or it will just crawl under the snags & not be found by any fish. In clearer areas just use a running sinker rig so the yabbie can crawl around wherever it likes.

Wouldn't expect much to eat
Wouldn't expect much to eat them there, too much other food available that's easier for the fish to deal with. Mind you my judgement could be cloud by my incredibly low opinion of that place.

Check the regs about
Check the regs about transporting live Yabbies as they are considered to be an introduced pest.Only bait to use at Golden ponds is a fizzle tailed prawn with a short fuse.Redfin will take them but make sure they are frozen and on the small size and don't move them I.E. fish static. Carp (read Crap) are another introduced pest and use the aforementioned prawn and when landed release over the left or right shoulder into the "bush" with as much throwing power as you can.
