Yamaha Outboard help

Hi,
Quick question hoping somebody will be able to help with. My 60hp 4stroke yamaha was stalling at idle. Ok when running. Took the cowling off and saw water coming out of a hole on the side of the engine. Looked a little closer and saw that a bolt had fallen out.
Doesn't anyone know what this bolt is for?
I put it back in and engine running as normal. Just wondering if any damage could have been done.

Looks like
Sacrificial anode bolt . Could be wrong . Is another smaller bolt underneath plate ? If so it’s only bolt that holds sacrificial anode holder in place.

Internal anode
I have a 2002 F60 and that bolt you found covers one of the internal engine anodes. There are five of those. The one you said came out is next to the internal water gallery, so if it was loose then water comes out and not much pressure to circulate around the internals and out the tell tale. Unless you got an overheating alarm due to running too long without good water circulating, you could be OK. Obviously you also would have got saltwater splash over the bits of engine around the leak.
The other four internal anodes like that one are all in a line down the motor, with one next to each spark plug. Have the same sort of 10mm bolt on top.
These anodes are bits of zinc like a short pencil. The are suporsed to corrode over itme to protect the engine a bit form corrosion. If the bolt you put back had nothing on it then I would be checking them all and replacing all five.

Little johnny is correct,
Little johnny is correct, they are anodes.
There are 4 more anodes on the head near the spark plugs as well.
Would be well worth giving it a wash and spray it real well with inox or similar.
The salt can make a real mess if you leave it .

Extra info
Sorry if the info about the bolt and anode wasn't clear. The loose bolt itself holds the cover on the anode, so maybe with your bolt lose the anode , which sits right next to it,had come free enough to let water past. Here's a link showing what they look like and how to change them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V23DhFMqZCg

Great stuff. Thanks for the advice.
Cleaned up the whole area and covered in inox. Anode looked in good condition so all good.
Another thing to add to the pre launch check list :-)
