Im in.

Yep agree, either club capricorn carpark or lagoon. I guess if we meet at lagoon car park we can check things out and decide if we fish south of lagoon or club capricorn. Might need a fair bit of beach if we get a decent group together.

Tue, 2010-10-26 21:49

Not fussy about timing, I normally try and get fresh bait the day before or something anyway. Always good to get there before dark though. 4ish sounds good, gives us a chance to find some nice beach and can get a good bit of space to spread over that way. Hope the weather turns out nice for us!

Pretty simple to find Pob, not that many roads to choose from lol im sure you will have no problems.

With a bunch of people putting in burley i reckon my plan might be to put out some seriously big baits lol

Have swum baits out before.

Tue, 2010-10-26 22:24

Have swum baits out before. but would much rather kayak some baits out.  Lifejacket anyone?

Im in for the mission if not able to get away around that time. Would be good to to even set up at a few different spots. Again, dont want to get cluttered up with too many rods.

If it all works out i will be coming from Subiaco and could take 2 others if needed.

Cheers,

George.

Club Cap

Wed, 2010-10-27 07:46

Hey all, I work at Club Capricorn. It is OK to drive through as long as you obey the 20km hr speed limit.

Lately it has been pretty much blowing its @#$& off, Southerly. Been a few tailor caught on the North side of the groyne and a few baitfish around. I prefer the South side, it has great structure straight out in front as long as the weed is not too thick.

I have ballooned there a few times, had some big bustoffs around the back of the reef. The tailor come on usually around sunset but be early to secure a good spot, it can get busy. Plenty of whiting and herring etc. I will come on down to say G'day !

Not really a groyne

Wed, 2010-10-27 11:06

It is more of a rocky outcrop. I fish right next to it, it has been there for as long as I can remember. Plenty of fishos cast from there but I prefer the beach. You can't miss it as it is straight down from the bottom beach carpark.

I would be ballooning large

Tue, 2010-10-26 23:53

I would be ballooning large baits out on a decent overhead. Tuna heads, mackies etc. Just be careful when swimming your bait out :P

club cap!!!!

Wed, 2010-10-27 11:40

have fished club cap since i was a kid(used to live there) have caught some good fish and cant remember how many bities ive pulled in from there, just gotta be patient these days. good spot to have a crew set up with a big baits spread, will definatly get something if everyone burleys up. i use to paddle the baits out just before the reef on my surfboard so willing to do it for those who cant get their BIG baits far enough out. so im in, lets just hope the weather is good and the weed pisses off.

Wed, 2010-10-27 20:56

Never had any action of the ballooned baits. Not to say they dont work. But have always seen more action on ground baits.. and much better for setting the hook when you already have a few lbs of pressure on the line via spider sinker.

Ideal would be kayaked baits out with spider sinkers, then cranking them up to set the sinkers in the sand and add the few lbs of pressure onto the line ..

Would love to slide some baits out, something i have always been meaning to do. Looks like it would work just as well, as long as you can cast into the right area.

Wed, 2010-10-27 21:01

I agree bungel, much prefer baits set on the bottom and how often do we get easterly winds at night for ballooning northern beaches?

Ive done plenty of sliding but never set really big baits with kayaks. Lookin forward to this shark bash if only to see everyones different fishing styles!
