Yesterdays GT popping video

Got some pretty good footage yesterday. Tides weren't particularly ideal for GTs but we managed to get 2 fish on stickbaits.

awesome footage there
awesome footage there Jay
as you know that spot is pretty special, consistant and localised.
Its a small stretch that one and has fished well for the smallish number of locals that target these great fish for a while now. Obviously with shots that show the exact spot it is going to get even more heavily fished in the near future so maybe try and keep some of the obvious landmarks a little more low key, like the window rock in your last photos Brad. Do you think i didn't shed a little tear when i saw that spot in your photos
i was talking to a mate of yours the other day and we reckon some tags would be good for these fish so we can maybe keep track of how the population of such a small area handle the pressure. whadjareckon?
keep sharing the fish photos guys and look after these beauties!!

Midnight Everyone i know who
Midnight
Everyone i know who catches these GT's puts them back (taste like shit and full of worms) we put in photos (like shots of the pinicals) to put people off on where we go, so all isnt as obvious as it seems
I dont think i would tag them, just happy to catch them, and chuck them back.

G'day Midnight, where are
G'day Midnight, where are you located? I take it you've fished this spot before, wouldn't mind seeing any pics if you've got any.
I hope that my pics didn't make it too obvious for your liking.
With regards to tags it sounds like I good idea but GTs aren't an ANSA tagging species so you may have to chat with the relevant people and get a program organised.

Only one photo for now Jay,
Only one photo for now Jay, hopefully people won’t pick the spot from it. Quote “..With regards to tags it sounds like I good idea but GTs aren't an ANSA tagging species so you may have to chat with the relevant people and get a program organized ..”
Yeah I’m not into tags for points but this area has been huge for info from the ANSA tagging program and the like and info is good. Because of the awesome variety of fishing available and the huge number of keen fishos like yourselves here, as well as the relatively localized fish populations and ease of access to them, it’s possible that some great info can be gathered on a species which has so little known about them.Since ANSA don’t care about them and pros don’t care about them it would be up to a few to see if some info could be gathered regarding longevity and local populations. Now would be a good n uff time as any.
You guys have been posting shots for the last year or so showing plenty. It’s fish photos that we all love so I’m certainly not suggesting to stop posting. Maybe learn some basic editing and be choosy what info you give out for free – considering you guys worked hard to find these spots.
Quote “..Everyone i know who catches these GT's puts them back (taste like shit and full of worms) we put in photos (like shots of the pinicals) to put people off on where we go, so all isnt as obvious as it seems..”
Of course they put them back..but how do you reckon the big ones go after finding their freedom in the coral with a popper deep in their cavernous mouths? And you know they suck em deep! Even with barbless singles they wouldn’t dislodge every one. We all leave our footprint, even the C&R fishos. Info is good Brad.
I’m not going to go back thru your relatively short pictorial history of fishing this place (which is for all to see in these pages) to show the many examples of how you could have not disclosed an area yet still shown the fish to entertain the masses (although I noticed many of your past posts have disappeared??) Anyway I don’t want to say any more on it …don’t want to take away from the photos of the fish.
Don’t take it too personally and keep the photos coming.
