The FADS will be retrieved anytime after this weekend's Marlin Cup comp. As soon as that's finished TAFE's Maritime Image will be on stand by to bring them in weather permited so basically end of next week they should be gone....unfortunately!
With the marlin cup do you have to avoid certain areas, or is it just the same courtesy as to other boaties? I would guess normally you'd take turns going by the fads if theres a couple of boats, but might annoy guys if they have a marlin comp (might want it all clear for themselves :p)
Is this reliable information this time? And can anyone confirm whether it is really two FAD's out there, or whether the two we couldnt find were either towed under by the current, or perhaps at slightly different points.
And much more importantly, does anyone want a deckie . Still the number one fish to catch on my list (and thought i'd missed the boat)
only club marine , no point fishing though and hillaries, looked for perth yesterday and definately isnt there , hopefully wednesday will bring the goods
no waste anyway, except fo the expence and inconvience for the club, always wondered why dont they put it in a more productive area than wasting it where they put it?
I think the other FAD we went to on Friday was the Club Marine one, so it must have gotten lost over the weekend. Going off the charts and the memory that it was the crappest in shallowest water.
I think the real reason that they're waiting 3 weeks is because if they give it a bit of time, Hillarys is bound to go too which means they dont need to retreive anything!
Matt, I figured the reason they put it there is to make it more easily accessable to more people. But the distance you need to travel to get it and the next FAD isnt a lot more, so not much point for practicalitys sake
Dont know about them being happy about any going missing Matt. The FADs cost the PGFC something like 5K each. Theyve already had to replace a few this year and with all the missing ones atm I think its been an expensive year for them.
The FAD close in works well for YFT and also gives smaller boats a chance, i think it went on the weekend!
The FADS we're supose to be retreived, PGFC are at the mercy of TAFE and was told they have to wait which makes it harder as the weather deteriates late May and thats why they started bringing them in earlier ie 1st week in May!
I was working on the assumption that the PGFC pays for it, TAFE does it, hence TAFE would probably prefer that they went missing and they didnt have to take them in, lol. In all seriousness, I think that the TAFE guys would still be disappointed if they went missing even if they dont pay for them.
I probably should have added a smiley to indicate I wasnt being serious :p
I do hope the FADs don't get lost. The cost to obtain and drop one must be significant and the longer the FAD is in the water, the more fish it is likely to hold.
There is nothing worst then heading 30miles off shore to find the FADs missing! I am hoping for a decent day next week. I know this Wednesday looks good, but I have some obligations that I can't get out of.
Have fun, those of you who are heading out - tight lines!

Excellent!
Now I just need to find someone to go out with......
Got two people lined up, but they can be quite busy, so we'll have to see how it goes. I feel a bit guilty bugging them too often sometimes
Need a camera man alfred? (I even know what ISO, aperature and EV mean
)
The end of this week is looking pretty fine and I hear the dollies are nice and bit too

delayed!
PGFC had the TAFE guys lined up to bring them in this week but they've been delayed by TAFE and have to wait up to 3 weeks!
No drama's as far as they're concerened as the Club FAD is now missing so they only need to bring in one!
