Some of the Catalina rods are pretty good to and are made to match the reels. I have a PE4 Catalina rod to match my 4500.  Its light and nice and thin but with a bit of grunt when needed - what line are you using??

This looks like a nice outfit, wondering if my 45 might be a bit big for it though

Bought my Catalina's from Ray

Thu, 2012-08-02 20:25

Bought my Catalina's from Ray and Annes myself. depending on what you're using it for would suggest the same but in the PE4 model - still has plenty of give in the tip but grunt down low as well.  I have 2 spools on my 4500 (one with 40lb one with 50lb braid).  I also have a catalina PE8 rod with the 6500 and 80lb braid. I like the rods, light, not a broomstick action and as above with low down power.  I'm not familiar with the demon bloods myself so can't compare them.

Cheers

Hi.

I got a Capricorn 4500J matched to a Nitro  Godzilla. 7 ft.

Does a great job of Jigging. Tossin' Poppers. and bottom fishing.

2 Spools. One with 30lb Braid t'other with 25lb Nylon

Also got an Overhead Godzilla too. Avet SX or Accurate 870 25\30lb

Damn good sticks with great warranty

They're a great allround rod for those weights. 25 to 40lb..

Around the $350 mark.

Warranty

Sun, 2012-08-05 19:19

I tried the old will you sell the rod at this (matching prices)price deal a couple of weeks ago (the price was legitimate from Ray's) and the price was $120 more at this particular shop- well i get this long winded answer about its cause the warranty ya know, cant send it back if you got a problem when your here in WA...

Getting off the point really- awesome rod love the Daiwa gear and will suit the Cat very nice, I do like the Catalina rods but the 67 is too light I would think. Demon are a better price though so you can afford the braid too and I think Catalina have a new range of rods to suit the 2012 reels to think about as well.

I'm sure both would be offering similar warranties and it wouldn't add $120 to the price.  so sounds like B/S.  As for being interstate you may have to wear postage to get it back but other than that would make little difference.

Good luck with whatever choice you make

That rod looks great mate. At 225 grams it will light as a feather and very strong. Not a bad price for such a good rod.
